The Faces regroup for charity gig

ROD STEWART and his former band THE FACES regrouped for their first proper gig in four decades on Saturday night (05Sep15) as they headlined drummer KENNEY JONES’ annual Prostate Cancer benefit in Surrey, England.
Stewart hit the stage with Jones and Ronnie Wood for a hits show in front of just 5,000 lucky fans at the Hurtwood Polo Club.
The trio has been attempting to put the band back together for years and Wood and Jones invited Simply Red star Mick Hucknall to join the band when a reunion get together fell through in 2011.
But Stewart proved he’s still got the moves and the voice, following vocal surgery a few years ago, to rock on with his old mates, performing classics like Ooh La La, Sweet Little Rock ‘n’ Roller and Stay With Me.
Just before he hit the stage, the singer said, “We’ve only had a few hours’ rehearsal so there’s bound to be a few cock-ups”, but the show appeared to go off without a hitch.
The Faces broke up in 1975 and the sudden death of keyboard player Ian McLagan in December (14) prompted the trio to team up for a brief set at Stewart’s 70th birthday party in January (15). The appearance at Jones’ benefit was announced earlier this summer (15).
After the show, Stewart, Wood and Jones all took to Twitter – and appeared to be in high spirits.
Stewart wrote, “A perfect rockin’ evening with my mates @RonnieWood @KenneyJones! #FacesReunion”, while Wood added, “Had me a real good time tonight THANK YOU! xx @ProstateUK @KenneyJones @rodstewart”, and drummer Jones stated, “What an amazing night last night was! The biggest thank you to everyone involved.”
