The Pretenders return with first album in eight years

Rocker Chrissie Hynde has reactivated The Pretenders for the group’s first album in eight years.
Chrissie Hynde abandoned plans to record a follow-up to her 2014 solo album Stockholm, according to reports, deciding her next record should be a Pretenders release.
But she is the only original member of the rock band to feature on the new album, Alone, which she recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, with fellow Akron, Ohio native Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and Johnny Cash’s former bassist Dave Roe.
Hynde says, “I sang and recorded every vocal in a 48-hour period – 48 hours to sing them, 40 years of preparation!”
The original Pretenders line-up featured Hynde, Martin Chambers and late musicians James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon. It is not clear who will join Hynde when she hits the road with Stevie Nicks to promote Alone, which will be released on 21 October (16).
