Now that the holidays are pretty much over, we’ve been left to suffer through winter without much sun, and without our beloved television shows to make us happy. Luckily, the mid-season hiatus will be over in just a few weeks, and everything from Modern Family to How To Get Away With Murder will be returning with a vengeance. Along with our favorite TV shows, the networks are giving us a lot of new material as well. Take a look at some of the most anticipated new series headed our way this winter. Thursday, January 7th Shades of Blue 10PM ET NBC
We always knew Jennifer Lopez was a bad ass, and she proves that in the new NBC drama Shades of Blue, where she stars as dirty NYC detective Harlee Santos. Things are all gravy until Santos get’s caught by the FBI, and she’s forced to become an informant or risk the life she’s built with her daughter forever.
Tuesday, January 12th Shadowhunters 9PM ET Freeform (Formally ABC Family)
Based on Cassandra Clare‘s YA series, The Mortal Instruments, Freeform is debuting Shadowhunters as a series that follows Brooklyn teenager Clary Fray who discovers she descends from a long line of humans with angelic blood. The Shadowhunters are sworn to protect the world from demons. When Clary’s mom is kidnapped, Clary and her fellow Shadowhunters team up on a quest to find her. Let’s see how the network formally known as ABC Family does with this beloved YA story.
Sunday, January 24thThe X-Files 8PM ET FOX
As one of the few reboots coming our way in 2016, Fox has revamped the ’90s fan favorite The X-Files (which is still the longest running sci-fi TV series in history) as a six-episode mini-series. The show will follow the original leads, David Duchovny as Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully, as they try to explain what can not be explained. If you’ve never seen it before, the entire series is now streaming on Netflix.
Monday, January 25th Lucifer 9PM ET FOX
Based on the comic book series, The Sandman, Fox’s new series follows Lucifer who after becoming bored with his position in hell, resigns and moves to LA. Lucifer looks like it is bound to make you laugh at loud.
Tuesday, February 2nd AMERICAN CRIME STORY: The PEOPLE V. O.J. SIMPSON 10PM ET FX
Produced by Ryan Murphy, The People v. O.J. Simpson is the first season of FX’s new anthology crime series American Crime Story. This first season will chronicle the murder trail of former NFL star O.J. Simpson which took place in 1995. With Ryan Murphy’s name on this series we already known that is worth the watch. However, with Cuba Gooding Jr. portraying Simpson along side of Sarah Paulson, John Travolta and a long list of others starring in the series, including Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran, we know this will be a wild ride.
February 26th Fuller House 12AM PT Netflix
The reboot of the ’90s classic Full House is headed our way February 26th, and those who are nostalgic for the Tanners and the ’90s couldn’t be more thrilled. Most of the original cast will be returning for Fuller House. The series will follow D.J. who is a recently widowed veterinarian and Stephanie (who is now a musician) who moves in with her big sis to help her with her three kids (sound familiar?).
Thursday, March 24 The Catch 10PM ET ABC
Shondaland is going to get even bigger in March. As the second season of HTGAWM wraps, Shonda Rhimes‘ new show The Catch will take its place on the Thursday night line-up. The Catch, follows a fraud investigator Alice Vaughan, (played by Mireille Enos) who realizes that her fiancé is conning her. As she juggles her work cases, Vaughan also fights to get ahead of her betrothed’s diabolical plot before it ruins her. Parenthood alum Peter Krause will star as the fraudulent fiancé.
