5 Thoughts I Had While Streaming the ‘Loki’ Season Finale

Hey, Hollywooders! What’s Good in the ‘Wood? Last week’s episode of the hit Loki series introduced us to countless Loki variants while also ending on a cliffhanger that had us on the edge of our seat waiting for episode 6!

In Episode 5 of Loki, we saw our heroes enter The Void, a desolate purgatory where variants are sent to die after being pruned by the TVA. There, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) finally accepts the help of others and teams up with Mobius (Owen Wilson), Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) and the Loki variant “Old Loki” (Richard E. Grant) to defeat Alioth on their way to find out who is controlling the TVA beyond the Void.

So, with the groundwork all laid out for the 6th episode of Marvel’s newest series, here are 5 spoiler-free thoughts I had while streaming the Loki season finale on Disney+.

#1: What’s the meaning behind the episode’s title?

Like with last week’s episode, I am once again asking myself why Loki called this episode “For All Time. Always.” The episode title is the only one from the entire series to be pulled from lines of dialogue. “For All Time. Always.” is from an exchange between Mobius and Hunter B-15 near the conclusion of the episode as the sacred timeline begins to split.

#2: I’m not vibing with the new MCU title sequence

Over the course of the MCU’s 13 year history, the epic franchise has tweaked their title sequence a few times. In the OG films it was simple and sweet: rapid flashes of pages from the main character’s comic book counterpart. When more heroes were introduced to the MCU and the films became more of an ensemble, Marvel revamped their title sequence to include scenes from the films, lines from the script, and iconic dialogue. Now, they have changed the title sequence’s scenes and sound bites but it doesn’t quite hit as hard.

#3: Who is the man behind the curtain?

Just like the classic The Wizard of Oz, Loki has had us wondering who is truly pulling the strings. At the conclusion of last week’s episode, Loki and Sylvie defeat Alioth to travel beyond The Void. Episode 6 begins with their arrival to the citadel at the end of time. There they meet He Who Remains, a 31st century scientist who created the TVA to keep peace following a multiversal war. A variant of He Who Remains named Kang the Conqueror is also set to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Without spoiling who actually plays He Who Remains, I must say it was perfect casting and I’m pumped to see them continue their MCU run.

#4: The multiverse is here to stay

After being teased throughout WandaVision and briefly mentioned in Loki’s pilot, the multiverse is a full go! Throughout the course of Loki’s season finale we learn more information about the science behind the multiverse as well as the history behind what makes it so dangerous. However, if Loki’s epic conclusion tells us one thing it’s that the multiverse is going to be a crucial pillar of Marvel’s Phase 4.

#5: We’re getting a second season of Loki!

I was all set to write about how Loki was coming to an end after 6 wonderful episodes, however I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there will be a season 2! This is both good and bad news for Marvel fans. The good news is we are getting hours and hours of more Loki, Mobius, Sylvie, and Judge Renslayer! However, with the conclusion of “For All Time. Always.” ending on a cliffhanger, now we have to wait months to see how Marvel wraps up all of Loki’s storylines.

How’s Twitter reacting to the Loki season finale?

Now that all 6 episodes of the Loki series have been released, how are fans reacting on Twitter?
