The comedienne secretly exchanged vows with her fiancee, Michelle Rounds, during a private ceremony in New York on 9 June (12).
The star's representative, Cindi Berger, tells People.com, "They got married but they haven't had the wedding celebration."
The couple was slated to walk down the aisle in August (12), but the two changed its plans to make the union official before Rounds, who was recently diagnosed with desmoid tumours, began her first round of surgery.
Rounds is now in recovery, as is O'Donnell, who suffered a heart attack earlier this month (Aug12), and together the newlyweds plan to celebrate the nuptials with family and friends in the coming weeks.
The former talk show host took to her blog on Monday (27Aug12) to thank fans for their well wishes, writing in a post, "We married in private before her surgery, just the 2 of us. When we r (are) both well enough (we) will have the wedding of r (our) dreams surrounded by those we cherish. Thankful for the love and support so many have given us during these trying times. "
The pair announced its engagement in December (11).
Lesbian star O'Donnell wed Kelli Carpenter in 2004. The couple divorced in 2008.
Rosie O'Donnell is returning to daytime TV -– just a decade after her popularity peaked, on The Rosie O'Donnell Show.
The actress/comedian/host/blogger/firestarter is eyeing a fall launch of the as-yet-untitled talk show, which, uncoincidentally, is the same time Oprah Winfrey’s eponymous show goes off the air.
O’Donnell, who has continued to make guest appearances on TV series -– and, lest we forget, very briefly co-hosted The View starting in 2006 -– most recently appeared in her cruelly titled HBO documentary A Family Is a Family Is a Family: A Rosie O’Donnell Celebration.
