"We’ve been there for weddings, births and the deaths of parents and partners. I know I could call any one of the other six at three in the morning if I were in a crisis, and they would be there for me in a heartbeat, as I would be for them." The Sound Of Music child star Nicholas Hammond is still close with his brothers and sisters from the 1965 movie.
Life imitated art for an extra in Kelly Clarkson's music video for new single Heartbeat Song when his boyfriend proposed to him while shooting the promo. In the music video, various real-life couples retrace their courtship from the moment they met until now and when Nashville radio producer Zac Woodward and his boyfriend Chad Laboy showed off their wedding bands in a final scene, Woodward feared they'd gone too far.
But in a video he has since posted on YouTube.com, behind-the-scenes footage features Laboy pulling out a ring box and asking his boyfriend to marry him on one knee.
A stunned Woodward accepted.
Stevie Nicks would quit Fleetwood Mac in a heartbeat if Tom Petty offered her the chance to become a permanent member of his band The Heartbreakers. Nicks, who joined Petty and his cohorts on the 1981 hits Stop Draggin' My Heart Around and Insider, admits the band has always been her favourite and she'd drop anything if her friend asked her to become a sidekick.
She tells Rolling Stone, "Had Tom Petty called me up one day and said, 'If you want to leave Fleetwood Mac to be in the Heartbreakers, there's a place for you', I might very well have done it. Anytime. Today! Because it's my favourite band."
Nicks has previously revealed Petty insisted she was not welcome in his band, telling her the Heartbreakers had a no girls policy. He obviously relaxed that rule when they duetted and he recently gave her a platinum sheriff's badge with the words 'To the only girl in the Heartbreakers' engraved on it.
Veteran British actor Brian Blessed collapsed during a performance of King Lear on Monday (19Jan15) but returned to the stage to finish the Shakespeare play after a 20-minute rest. The 78 year old had just begun his performance as the title character when he fainted and fell off a raised platform. His co-star Noel White announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is not part of the play. Is there a doctor in the house?" as Blessed's daughter Rosalind, who is also starring in the production, rushed to her father's side.
A surgeon in the audience tended to Blessed, who was escorted offstage, and to the audience's surprise he returned to continue his performance 20 minutes later, telling the crowd, "I feel such an idiot and I am not in the habit of doing this, but I have a little fibrillation (irregular heartbeat)."
Blessed managed to finish the show at the Holy Trinity Church in Guildford, England but occasionally clutched his chest and rolled his eyes during his performance, according to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper.
Director Caroline Devlin said afterwards, "Brian was an inspirational wonder. He had a small heart operation three years ago... We are not entirely sure why he became so dizzy but he is a 20 year old in a 78 year old's body. There was no stopping him."
British songwriter Sir Tim Rice is battling a number of health woes, and has to use a pacemaker to keep his heartbeat in check. The 69-year-old lyricist, best known for his theatre productions with Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, uses the small device to regulate the rhythm of his heartbeat, but would not reveal when he began using it.
He let the news slip during an interview with Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper when the device began bleeping and he said, "Oh, sorry that'll be my pacemaker."
In addition to his heart troubles, Rice also underwent a knee replacement operation in July (14). He adds, "Down to old age and wear-and-tear mainly. It was osteo-arthritis."
The condition damages the surfaces of joints and makes it difficult for sufferers to move easily.
Hollywood's former Batman, Michael Keaton, would reprise the superhero role "in a heartbeat" if director Tim Burton agreed to return.
The actor first played the Caped Crusader in 1989 blockbuster Batman and reprised the role in 1992 follow-up Batman Returns, both directed by Burton. Keaton has now revealed he would only consider stepping back into costume if he could work with Burton. When asked by Entertainment Weekly magazine if he would ever return to the role of Batman, Keaton replies:
"If it was Tim Burton directing? In a heartbeat. Tim, in the movies, really invented the whole dark superhero thing. He started everything, and some of the guys who have done these movies since then don't say that, and they're wrong." Keaton recently shocked fans when he revealed he has not watched Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, which featured Christian Bale in the lead role, saying, "Chris Nolan is great, but I've never seen any of the Batman movies all the way through. I know they're good. I just have zero interest in those kinds of movies."
Rocker Eddie Vedder has released a cover of JOHN LENNON's peace anthem IMAGINE in a bid to raise funds for a charity supporting unity in the Middle East. The Pearl Jam frontman's version of the iconic 1971 track was recently released on iTunes, and all proceeds will go to Heartbeat, an organisation which is attempting to unite the war-torn countries of Israel and Palestine through music.
Vedder first covered Imagine during a performance at a music festival in Portugal earlier this year (14), when he told the crowd that while he has publicly spoken out against war and alluded to the ongoing Middle East conflict, he wanted to be clear he wasn't explicitly choosing sides.
He said, "If you're anti-war it doesn't mean you are pro one side or the other in a conflict. So this next song I always thought it was probably the most powerful song ever written... Which is why I have never played it.
"It seems like maybe there is a reason to play it. If you'd like join me or use your voices or hold a light there might be some people out there that need to know they are not alone."
His performance of Imagine came days after he lashed out at pro-war advocates in a lengthy rant on stage during a gig in Milton Keynes, England.
Michael Lohan has accused prison bosses of failing to give proper medical care to his pregnant girlfriend Kate Major as she serves a jail sentence. Major was sentenced to eight months behind bars in May (14) after a judge ruled a driving under the influence (DUI) arrest in March (14) violated her probation relating to 2012 battery conviction.
However, Lohan claims Major has had two health scares involving unexplained bleeding since being jailed, and he insists some prison staff are not taking the medical concerns seriously.
Editors at TMZ.com report Major was taken to the jail's medical unit on both occasions but was sent back to her cell after doctors found the baby's heartbeat, and Lohan reportedly claims she was forced to carry her possessions back to her cell while still bleeding.
He tells the website, "You know damn well if someone has vaginal bleeding while pregnant that's indicative of a miscarriage."
Lindsay Lohan's father has now reportedly hired attorney Jose Baez, who is expected to attempt to get an order forcing prison bosses to have Major examined and treated by a specialist.
