Filmmakers behind new comedy Tammy had to use drastic prosthetics to age Susan Sarandon so moviegoers would believe she was Melissa Mccarthy's grandma.
The Bridesmaids star, 43, reveals even her 67-year-old co-star's feet and ankles had to be covered up - because Sarandon is perfect from head to toe.
She says, "The amount of effort that went into, like, taking the glow off her... like whose ankles are gorgeous? We had to make prosthetic ankles. "I was like, 'Oh, for God's sake... Your ankles are too good looking?' And then I'd look at her ankles and I was like, 'Oh my God, you've got gorgeous ankles'. They're young and vibrant."
And some scenes had to be reshot over and over because Sarandon looked "too good". McCarthy adds, "I was like, 'Is it looking like pretty lighting? Do we both look too good...?' (They'd say), 'No, just Susan... You're fine, Susan seems to be glowing from within'."
Rapper The Game has become a father figure to a struggling friend's little girl. The father-of-three revealed he had a new daughter after posting photos of little Madison during a trip to Disneyland earlier this week (beg23Jun14).
In a post on Instagram.com, the Dreams hitmaker wrote, "So let's get one thing clear for ALL & EVERYONE that has questions about MY DAUGHTER... She is my daughter!!! I am her FATHER!!! Doesn't matter if I am biologically her father or if I adopted her or if a father figure was absent in her life the last 9 years of it or not... What matters is from the moment I laid eyes on her I knew that WE BOTH we're (sic) put into each other's lives for a reason.
"Her birth father, whomever he might be has been absent from her life since her birth & once I found that out, after already falling in love with her for the months prior to me accepting the role of her FATHER, I immediately had several conversations with her mother (who works very hard for all of her children & doesn't NEED a thing) we agreed that I would take the place as Madison's FATHER.
"I take the role of FATHER very seriously with my 3 already prior to adding Madison to MY FAMILY so 1 more is nothing more than an easy task & I'm just as excited to have her as she is to have me!!!!"
And he used the post to clear up rumours about the little girl, adding, "She is not the daughter of one of my friends that died as the internet says, nor is her mother struggling or in need of any help raising her children... The thing is, there was a beautiful sweet girl who was in need of a father & who more perfect than ME?
"I will be here for her, @littlemisscali @kingjusticetaylor & @harlemtaylor (his three kids) as long as I breathe & my 4 children will never have to worry about ANYTHING as long as I'm breathing God's good air!!!! & for those haters I see in my & her comments... Worry bout your OWN kids!!!!!
He concluded, "That's my baby girl... Get used to seeing her... Sincerely, her FATHER!!!!!"
"Two of 'ems in their 40s. I can't believe I have kids with grey hair, for God's sake. I have five (kids)... I've got a 19 year old, that's my baby. He just graduated from high school and he's going to college; I'm so thrilled... I wanted to get him a car, but he doesn't wanna drive." Comedienne Roseanne Barr on her kids.
Gary Oldman has offered a "remorseful" apology to officials at America's Anti-Defamation League after voicing his thoughts about Hollywood's high-powered Jews.
The Dark Knight star sparked outrage with his Playboy magazine interview by saying he believes Hollywood is "run by Jews", and revisited Mel Gibson's drink-driving arrest when the actor hurled anti-Semitic remarks at a Jewish police officer. Oldman insisted Gibson fell victim to "political correctness" and was treated like an "outcast" in the aftermath of his racial slur scandal.
On Tuesday (24Jun14), Anti-Defamation League director Abraham H. Foxman released a statement slamming Oldman's comments, insisting: "Mel Gibson's ostracisation in Hollywood was not a matter of being 'politically incorrect', as Mr. Oldman suggests, but of paying the consequences for outing himself as a bigot and a hater. It is disturbing that Mr. Oldman appears to have bought into Mr. Gibson's warped and prejudiced world view."
Now the British actor has offered an apology to the organisation and anyone who was offended by his interview. His statement to the Anti-Defamation League reads: "I am deeply remorseful that comments I recently made in the Playboy interview were offensive to many Jewish people. "Upon reading my comments in print - I see how insensitive they may be, and how they may indeed contribute to the furtherance of a false stereotype. Anything that contributes to this stereotype is unacceptable, including my own words on the matter. "I hope you will know that this apology is heartfelt, genuine, and that I have an enormous personal affinity for the Jewish people in general, and those specifically in my life. The Jewish people, persecuted thorough the ages, are the first to hear God's voice, and surely are the chosen people. "I would like to sign off with 'Shalom Aleichem' - but under the circumstances, perhaps today I lose the right to use that phrase, so I will wish you all peace."
When it comes to bizarre and unpredictable career choices, nobody has the market cornered quite like Nicolas Cage. But his latest project might just be his weirdest yet - and yes, we're including combustible ghost-skeletons, father-daughter vigilante duos and angry drivers on that list. In the upcoming Left Behind, Cage plays Rayford Steele, a pilot who must find answers after half of the passengers on his plane disappear in the Rapture. The film, which also stars One Tree Hill's Chad Michael Murray and American Idol's Jordin Sparks, is based on a series of popular Christian apocalypse novels, which were previously made into a direct-to-DVD movie starring Kirk Cameron.
It makes perfect sense that the producers of Left Behind would want Cage to star in their film - partly because it will attract a wider audience, but mostly because he stares down the apocalypse on a regular basis - but that's about the only thing that makes sense in the first trailer for the film. We've rounded up all of the weirdest, most baffling moments in the trailer in order to attempt to make sense of not only Left Behind, but also the mysterious mind of Cage himself. Until those secrets are revealed, we can only assume that production met his requirements of serving hot lunch daily.
Someone Let Nicolas Cage Fly a Plane (0:06) Would you be willing to put your life and vacation plans in his hands? We didn't think so.
A Large Sign Instructs Viewers to 'Pray' (0:13) Because making through this movie in one piece will only be possible through an act of God.
The Plane Is Tossed Around in a Storm (0:32) Surely the storm would realize who's piloting that plane and change course before Cage unleashes his fury upon it. If anyone could figure out how to physically beat back lightning, it's the guy who made Season of the Witch.
Chad Michael Murray Is Filming the Empty Seats (0:36) Yes, we're curious as to why those people suddenly vanished, but we're more confused as to why he thinks he'll be able to find answers more effectively than a man who once stole the Declaration of Independence.
Nicolas Cage's Face Doesn't Move... (0:38)Yet he still manages to convey confusion, distress and authority in that oddly blank stare.
Samuel Goldwyn Films
Someone's Screaming About God, and It's Not Nicolas Cage (0:46) Sorry, pretty blonde girl, but Nicolas Cage is the only person who can scream to the heavens and actually receive a reply. He's the only person God truly fears.
Nicolas Cage's Face Still Isn't Moving (0:52) We can only assume that he's making so many films at the same time that he's started sending wax figures of himself to set in order to fill in for him on reaction shots and close-ups. Luckily, he chose an appropriately menacing one for this film.
Nicolas Cage Whispers About Important Life Philosophies (0:53 - 0:56) Does his advice make any sense? Not really. Should we all take his words to heart anyway, and change the way we choose to live our lives? Definitely.
Someone's Running From an Explosion, and It's Not Nicolas Cage (0:58)If a bomb goes off, but he's is otherwise occupied (in this case, crying into a cell phone he shouldn't be using on a plane), does it really explode?
This Movie Is Being Released in Theaters (1:00) We'd blame all the people who went to see God's Not Dead and Heaven Is For Real, but if those movies weren't a success, we'd all be robbed of the experience of watching Nicolas Cage face off against God in an action movie. It is truly a showdown for the ages.
Left Behind opens in theaters on October 3.
R&B star Toni Braxton was wracked with guilt when her son Diezel was diagnosed with autism, because she was convinced his condition was God's way of punishing her for having an abortion years before. The Un-Break My Heart hitmaker has opened up about her troubled personal life in her new memoir, revealing she terminated a pregnancy in her 30s after learning she was expecting her then-boyfriend Keri Lewis' child.
Braxton had been taking acne medication Accutane at the time, and feared the drug, which can cause serious side effects for foetuses, would result in problems for her unborn baby, so she decided to have an abortion.
The singer wed musician Lewis in 2001 and they went on to have two sons, but when doctors discovered her youngest child Diezel, now 11, suffered from autism, Braxton blamed herself for his developmental disorder.
In her autobiography, Unbreak My Heart: A Memoir, she recalls thinking, "Is God punishing me for that abortion?", adding, "(I) believed that God's payback was to give my son autism."
However, the 46 year old has since had a change of heart about the diagnosis, telling People magazine, "I thought I was being punished for having an abortion. But I realised there is nothing wrong with my baby. He just learns differently."
Braxton and Lewis split in 2009 and their divorce was finalised last year (13).
"I didn't return my mother's calls for four days straight because I was crying the whole time." Actress Christina Hendricks was devastated when she heard about the death of her God's Pocket co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman. The actor died of an accidental drug overdose in February (14) .
"That was awful. I'd hoped we'd be at the back of the theatre, the two of us, listening to the audience laugh." Mad Men star John Slattery on missing out on spending quality time with his God's Pocket star Philip Seymour Hoffman, who died in February (14), shortly after the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
Troubled actor/singer Columbus Short insists he is focused on the future despite his growing personal problems. The Scandal star was charged with felony aggravated battery last month (Mar14) after a California judge issued a warrant for his arrest following a bar brawl.
He was also ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and is awaiting trial.
On Tuesday (15Apr14), his estranged wife Tanee McCall-Short won a restraining order after Short allegedly threatened to kill her during a bust-up at their house in California earlier this month (Apr14).
The ruling also requires Short to move out of the family home, but he has now spoken out to insist he is coping in the midst of his personal woes.
He tells People.com, "To be honest with you, I'm feeling raw, focused, vulnerable and in a perfect place to write great music. God's been preparing me for a long time to deal with this season of my life. Being able to have thick skin is something that is needed."
Short also revealed he remains oblivious to the scandals by avoiding media coverage, adding, "You want to know the truth? I don't read anything. I don't read the good stuff and I don't read the bad stuff, because if I read the good stuff, I've got to read the bad stuff. I don't allow myself to make agreements with nonsense so I just don't take it in."
Pop star Anastacia scrapped plans to tell the world about her double mastectomy after actress Angelina Jolie went public with her own surgery revelation. The I'm Outta Love singer was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, and she opted for the drastic operation after the disease returned in early 2013.
She underwent surgery shortly before Jolie told the world about her own double mastectomy last May (13) and found out about the actress' news while in hospital recovering.
Anastacia admits Jolie's headline-grabbing revelation prompted her to keep quiet about her own health news.
She tells Britain's Hello! magazine, "I was lying in my hospital bed hooked up to an IV (intravenous drip), listening to the fact that she (Jolie) just had one too and it was kind of surreal. I had planned to announce mine sooner... So when Angelina went public and shared her journey - and she did it with such class and grace - I was like, 'Thanks, girl, you got this, the pressure's off.' I felt like it was God's way of telling me 'Take your time'. In hindsight, I really needed that time in private to heal."
Anastacia went public with her news in October (14), five months after Jolie shared the details of her preventative surgery.
