Comedian Hannibal Buress received death threats after accusing Bill Cosby of rape during a stand-up routine last year (14). Buress has been credited with sparking the ongoing claims of sexual assault against the beloved TV star by referencing Cosby's past accusations during a routine last summer (14).
Since then, over 20 women have come forward with stories about sex encounters with The Cosby Show star, and the stand-up comedian admits he became a target of some of Cosby's most loyal fans.
Buress says, "It was definitely a weird situation... The weirdest thing about getting a death threat from a male bodybuilder... on Facebook is when you click on his profile and see you have one mutual friend. And then having to hit your friend up and say, 'Hey man, can you tell your buddy to stop saying that he's gonna murder me?'.
"I didn't really think he was gonna kill me, but I'd rather not taken that information into my head."
One of Bill Cosby's alleged sex assault victims from the 1980s has penned a powerful newspaper article detailing her reasons for not going public with her rape accusations sooner, insisting she didn't want to let the African-American community down.
Jewel Allison has opened up about the struggle with her conscience in a piece for The Washington Post, in which she details the night she was reportedly drugged and then attacked by The Cosby Show star.
Allison reveals she kept the alleged assault to herself for years because she felt a need to protect black males from being further stereotyped as "sexually violent", especially after Cosby was hit with a string of similar accusations from other women.
In the article, which was published on Friday (06Mar15), Allison wrote, "I did not want to see yet another African-American man vilified in the media. As I debated whether to come forward, I struggled with where my allegiances should lie - with the women who were sexually victimized or with black America, which had been systemically victimized."
She went on to describe the night of her alleged encounter with Cosby, adding, "I felt both physically violated and emotionally bamboozled. Still, I didn't want the image of Dr. Huxtable (Cosby's character on The Cosby Show) reduced to that of a criminal... I knew that, in my reluctance to add my assault to the allegations facing Cosby, I was allowing race to trump rape."
Allison is now one of over 30 women who have made decades-old sex allegations against Cosby, but he is refusing to let the ongoing scandal derail his current comedy tour.
On Monday (09Mar15), he released an online video, in which he reiterated he is "far from finished" with his stand-up shows, despite facing a string of cancellations and protests in the wake of the controversy. In the 10-second clip, the funnyman appears to be wearing pyjamas as he chats on the phone to a fan, promising the supporter he will be "hilarious" at his upcoming show in Wheeling, West Virginia on Saturday (14Mar15). The embattled star doesn't address any of the sex abuse allegations in the short footage, but repeats his previous statements about his determination to perform for fans who are standing by him.
In a message accompanying the video, which aired on America's ABC News on Monday, he writes, "Dear Fans: I hope you enjoy my wonderful video message that's filled with laughter. Hey, hey, hey, I'm far from finished."
Cosby repeated the "I'm far from finished" line in a statement issued late last month (Feb15), when his lawyers were preparing to file papers for the dismissal of three defamation cases against the actor from women who were called liars when they originally came forward with their accusations. The comedian's lawyers insists all the allegations are false.

Comedian Bill Cosby has issued a new statement as women continue to add their names to the list of sexual abuse and inappropriate behaviour accusers speaking out about alleged trysts with the funnyman, insisting the scandal will not bring his ongoing stand-up tour to a premature end. As the comic's lawyers reportedly prepare to file dismissal papers to end three defamation cases against Cosby from women who were called liars when they came forward with their decades-old accusations, the funnyman, who has never been charged of any crime in relation to the claims, has reached out to his supporters.
In a new statement, the 77 year old writes, "Dear Fans: For 53 years you have given me your love, support, respect and trust. Thank you! I can't wait to see your smiling faces and warm your hearts with a wonderful gift - LAUGHTER. I'm ready!"
Cosby also thanked fans in Louisiana and staff at the Heymann Performing Arts Center in Lafayette, Louisiana for refusing to postpone his Friday night (27Feb15) show, amid a series of gig cancellations linked to his sexual abuse scandal.
He adds, "I thank you, the theatre staff, the event organizers and the Lafayette Community for your continued support and coming to experience family, fun entertainment. Hey, Hey, Hey - I'm far from finished."
The statement comes days after former model Heidi Thomas became the latest woman to accuse Cosby of sexual assault. She recently told CNN that she became a victim 1984 after the comedian Cosby offered to help kickstart her career and allegedly gave her alcohol so she could experience what it felt like to be drunk during an acting lesson. Thomas claims she woke up and Cosby was forcing himself on her.
Former aspiring actress/model Heidi Thomas has added her name to the list of women accusing embattled comedian Bill Cosby of sexual assault. In an interview with CNN on Tuesday (24Feb15), Thomas came forward with her confession, alleging Cosby took advantage of her in 1984.
According to Thomas, she met with The Cosby Show star in Reno, Nevada, where he was performing a stand-up gig at the nearby Harrah's Hotel and Casino.
She says she was told by her agent to visit Cosby so he could give her tips on how to become a successful actress.
Thomas recalls she performed a monologue in which she was reading the part of a drunk person, but then alleges he suggested she drink a class of wine to get into the role.
She claims he told her, "How are you ever going play an intoxicated person... if you've never been drunk?", after which, her memory reportedly grew "foggy".
Thomas alleges she later woke up to find the comedian in bed with her, naked and "forcing himself in my mouth".
She claims he continued to make more lewd comments before she stormed out of the room.
However, Thomas noted that she later apologised to Cosby for her "rude" behaviour and then travelled to his gig with him.
She alleges she saw him one more time backstage at his show in St. Louis, Missouri, but they did not discuss the alleged incident in Nevada.
Thomas' confession is the latest of a string of accusations against the troubled star, as more than 30 women have come forward to maintain they were drugged and raped during encounters decades ago.
Cosby's lawyer has yet to respond to the latest allegation.
Another show on embattled comedian Bill Cosby's ongoing stand-up tour has been cancelled amid the multiple sexual assault accusations hanging over the funnyman. Cosby has been forced to scrap a series of concerts as promoters balk at the claims of rape and inappropriate behaviour from more than 20 women, even though he has never been charged with any crime relating to the alleged claims.
Now, a March (15) date at the University of Kentucky in Lexington has been postponed "by mutual agreement".
A 12 February (15) show in Bakersfield, California was also postponed, while a 21 February (15) gig at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was cancelled.
Legal representatives for Cosby have denied the decades-old allegations of sexual assault.
Comic Richard Pryor's widow has broken her silence about her late husband's nemesis Bill Cosby and the sexual assault allegations hanging over him, branding The Cosby Show star a "hypocrite". Jennifer Lee Pryor has revealed her husband and Cosby were never friends, adding Cosby always thought Pryor "worked dirty" onstage.
During a recent appearance on the Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend podcast, Pryor said, "Richard was dirty on the outside, but he was a good person. He was clean on the inside. Bill hated Richard because he 'worked dirty'. Bill worked clean, so therefore, you know... Bill's just a f**king hypocrite, and dirty on the inside.
"This kind of s**t that we're finding out about is beyond... I wasn't aware of this kind of business. There were people in the business who were aware of it, and they're coming out now."
Cosby has been hit by over 30 allegations of sexual abuse and inappropriate behaviour in recent months. His legal team has dismissed all the claims.
"I wish that he would say something, but I can't make a judgment about it. I make my judgment because I have a daughter, I have a wife that I love and I have a lot of women in my life and I know women are vulnerable in this society and people with power take advantage of people." Samuel L. Jackson on the Bill Cosby scandal. The movie star once served as Cosby's stand-in on The Cosby Show.
Embattled comedy veteran Bill Cosby has pulled another date on his ill-fated stand-up tour as he continues to fight allegations of sexual assault. The funnyman had been due to perform at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island on 26 June (15), but on Thursday (19Feb15), ticketholders were informed the gig had been postponed until further notice.
No reason was given for the rescheduling and a new date has yet to be announced.
Cosby, who has not been charged in relation to the decades-old accusations, has had to cancel or delay a string of live dates amid the scandal, which has seen more than 30 women come forward since September (14), accusing the 77-year-old actor of perverse acts. Some claim he attempted to seduce them, while others insist the comic drugged and raped them.
His most recent cancellations affected dates in Charlotte, North Carolina and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, while shows in Boston, Massachusetts earlier this month (Feb15) were also scrapped due to weather conditions.
