Justin Bieber reportedly stormed out of a deposition relating to a photographer assault suit after a lawyer quizzed him about his on/off girlfriend Selena Gomez. Photographer Jeffrey Binion filed a lawsuit against Bieber and his bodyguard, Hugo Hesny, last year (13), alleging he was choked by Hesny and ordered to delete his images after the 20 year old took offence at being snapped outside a recording studio.
The singer was due to give his out-of-court testimony in January (13), but it clashed with his arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) and drag racing in Florida.
Bieber and his legal team finally sat down with Binion's lawyers in Miami on Thursday (06Mar14), and the four and half hour deposition was far from an easy ride for the star.
According to TMZ.com, he walked out the meeting after an attorney asked if Gomez was present during any scuffles with photographers, shouting as he left, "Don't ask me about her, do not ask me about her!"
The Baby singer also reportedly swore at the lawyer and quipped, "What is this, 60 Minutes?... OK Katie Couric, what's your question again?"
It's the start of a busy month for the star - his DUI case is heading to court for a status conference next week (begs10Mar14).
Rapper Lil Boosie celebrated his release from prison on Wednesday night (05Mar14) by sharing a new song with his fans. The hip-hop star was freed after five years behind bars at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, and Boosie, real name Torrence Hatch, was so eager to get back to his rap game that he recorded a new track - during the car ride home from jail.
Boosie posted a video on YouTube.com, titled The Ride Home, which featured him sitting in the backseat of a car, while freestyling about his new-found freedom.
In the 54 second clip, he raps, "Labelled me Scarface, Al Capone and Larry Hoover/You and I know it was damn wrong how they judged Boosie.
"Man just trying to take off these jail clothes... Shackled down from my feet to my hands/ Missing my kids, man, a feeling only I can explain... Get back to doing what I was doing with my money machine. Ching, ching."
Representatives at his label Atlantic Records have confirmed Boosie will be making his first official public statement on Monday (10Mar13), during an event in New Orleans, Louisiana.
"I know how to ride a motorcycle. I can do wire work like you see in circuses. I can shoot and load a gun, and I can disarm someone who has a gun. I know how to fight, too." Actress Jessica Alba on the useful skills she's picked up while researching film roles.
Megadeath frontman Dave Mustaine is joining forces with musicians from California's San Diego Symphony for an unlikely collaboration for one night only. The heavy metal star will team up with the city orchestra at Copley Symphony Hall for Symphony Interrupted on 12 April (14), when he will show off his knowledge of classical masterpieces by performing renditions of the Summer and Winter concertos from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, Bach's Air, Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries and Antonin Dvorak's New World Symphony.
Mustaine says, "I love the challenge. I really admire this genre of music because of the level of skill required and there are great dark undertones in these incredible pieces. The marriage of two such distinctly different genres is one thing, but cross-pollinating different societies is a whole new level of bada**!
"It's a bit intimidating, and to be given the opportunity to interpret these melodies - to meld what I am best at with what they incredibly present - it is a great honour."
The performance will take place days before Megadeath head out on a new world tour.
Liam Neeson's new thriller Non-Stop has been blocked from the top of the U.K. box office chart by animated comedy The Lego Movie. The airplane drama pulled in $4.3 million (£2.7 million) in its opening weekend (28Feb-02Mar14), leaving it trailing behind The Lego Movie, which scored a third consecutive weekend on top with $5.3 million (£3.3 million).
Ironically, Neeson voiced one of the Lego characters in the film which kept Non-Stop from number one.
Buddy comedy Ride Along, starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, was another new entry at three with $2.3 million (£1.4 million), just ahead of war drama The Book Thief, which pulled in just short of the $2.3 million (£1.4 million) mark.
The top five was rounded out by another kids' film, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, which earned $1.3 million (£795,797).
Gird your loins, drag lovers! RuPaul revealed on Watch What Happens Live that there will be a second season of RuPaul's Drag Race: All-Stars. So who will be the lucky drag divas to get a second chance at the coveted crown? Last season featured a major twist — the girls play as teams. It’s entertaining but some fan faves get eliminated early while others get to ride the coattails of their more successful teammates. This new season should bring back girls who have major beef and let the fur fly. There is potential to have them work as teams or have to compete in similar challenges. Maybe they both have to make the same type of outfit or play the same role. It’s also a good opportunity to bring back girls who have shady television personas. Do they have a softer side?
Rebecca is the first queen accused of relying on her looks. She was a frontrunner of her season until she managed to alienate all of the remaining girls. She is infamous in Drag Race history and it would be nice to see her after all these years. The queens from Season 1 deserve a crack at the Drag Race that we have come to know and love. It also would be interesting to see how Rebecca does against other fishy queens.
Jade is one of the hottest queens in the show’s history, both in and out of drag. Her dance background makes her a contender for the music and talent challenges. Plus her body is amazing. She is sweet and well liked by the girls on her season. She also has a legendary beef with Rebecca that might make for some Real Housewives-level drama.
Tatianna is one of the fishiest queens of the entire franchise. There is a ton of friction between her and the other queens of her season. She is the first queen to be accused of relying on her looks and gets teased for her love of Britney Spears. She is a stunning performer. She won the first ever Snatch Game challenge and there is a ton of potential growth in the past few years. She also has the sex appeal, humor, and sharp tooth to be a major contender to win.
Morgan is often eclipsed by Raven the Susan Lucci of Drag Race. The two are best friends but Morgan is a majorly polished queen and a real contender to win. Certain missteps in her season kept her from showcasing her humor and amazing looks. She also did seem to be a bit cliquish and picked on queens like Mystique and Tatianna. However, her lip-synching performances off the show are legendary.
PhiPhi is like Helen of Troy. She’s beautiful and has the shade that launched a thousand ships. Her generally combative relationship with the other queens is a major reason behind her not winning her season. She has the distinction of assassinating her career on television. In her defense, she’s cute and young. She deserves a second chance to introduce America to a softer side. If not, she can provide some Omarosa-like tension to the season.
Not to blame PhiPhi for more things, but she is a little responsible for the harsh reply to Roxxxy Andrews. Roxxy has a bit of an edge. Her slightly combative relationship with future winner Jinkx Monsoon echoed the friction between PhiPhi and winner Sharon Needles. Roxxxy is really stunning and was an amazing performer. However, Season 5 did seem to be very performance based and allowed queens like Jinkx and Alaska to slide right into the finale. Roxxxy never had an issue with her outfits and is an accomplished. She is the only queen to take off her wig to reveal another wig! She deserves a chance at the crown without seeming like a bully.
It’s odd that Detox’s off-screen performances outshine her time on the show. She performs amazingly hilarious songs with Willam and Vicky Vox. She showed up to the reunion in black & white realness. She is the least outspoken member of Rulaskatox. Roxxxy is the most polished and Alaska is the funniest. And yet, Detox is the best of both worlds. She can be fabulous or funny.
Alaska has it all. She’s funny, uniquely beautiful, and the perfect blend of polished and punk rock. She has the reputation for auditioning for every season of Drag Race. If she returns to the show she can step out of Sharon Needles shadow and showcase her unique approach to drag. After all, she has her own bow-legged walk. She does have the makings of an all-star.
It’s unclear who will be open to return for All-Stars Season 2. Raven may return to try and get the crown. Ivy Winters is Ms. Congeniality of her season so she is bound to return. Here’s hoping Coco Montrese and Alyssa Edwards skip this season. Their on-again/off-again feud is like a 5-year-old after a day at Disneyland… tired. There is also a whole mess of season six queens who will make an appearance. These are our picks who do you think should be on the next season of All-Stars?
R&B legend Dionne Warwick is planning to follow up her new duet with country star Billy Ray Cyrus by heading out on tour together. The unlikely collaborators recently teamed up to record Hope is Just Ahead, and they have been having so much fun promoting the charity track, which benefits a youth anti-violence initiative, they are in talks to take the show on the road later this year (14).
Warwick's rapper son, Buck 22, is also preparing to join the pair after scoring a chart hit with a revamped version of Cyrus' 1992 hit Achy Breaky Heart.
The veteran singer says, "Billy and I are putting together a series of places to go and a show that we can do together."
And Cyrus reveals fans will be in for an interesting ride.
He adds, "We call it the 'circus' (because) between she and I and her son, Buck 22, we're kind of an in-house travelling freak show... We're gonna take it out (on tour) and go with it."
Ride Along actor Kevin Hart took an unlikely trip to the set of British soap opera Coronation Street while on a promotional trip to the U.K. He paid a visit to the show's landmark pub Rovers Return and posed for pictures with the cast on Wednesday (26Feb14).
Rapper Kid Cudi has followed in Beyonce's footsteps by releasing his new album online without any publicity fanfare. The Day 'n' Nite hitmaker took to his Twitter.com blog on Monday night (24Feb14) to count down to a mystery "launch", sharing a bizarre out-of-this-world message which read: "Tickets to Copernicus Landing will be available for purchase via iTunes in the next 2 hours.
"We will be boarding at 12am Eastern/9pm Pacific Time, and launching shortly after, so pack up and stay tuned to this feed for the link!"
Two hours later, he simply tweeted, "BOARDING!" alongside a link to iTunes.com, where his latest studio project, Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, was available to purchase.
Cudi had previously mentioned plans for a February (14) release, but no official date had been set for his first album since leaving Kanye West's GOOD Music label last year (13).
He later returned to Twitter.com to thank fans for their positive feedback, writing, "Are we enjoying the ride everyone? I am! I love u all so much, I do it all for u, forever."
Cudi has plenty to celebrate this year (14) - he is currently promoting the upcoming release of his new street racing movie Need For Speed, in which he stars alongside Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, and he has also just landed a role in the long-awaited Entourage film.
Beyonce pulled a similar release stunt in December (13) when she sent fans into a frenzy by dropping her self-titled album on iTunes.com without any prior notice or promotion.
TV talk show star Ellen Degeneres has moved to silence long-running rumours suggesting her marriage to Portia De Rossi is on the verge of collapse, insisting she is more in love with the actress than ever. Recent rumours suggested the couple was on a verge of a split, and the gossip was fuelled when the former Ally McBeal star was spotted without her wedding ring.
However, DeGeneres is adamant her partner simply took off the ring to go horse-riding.
She tells People.com, "Apparently she's demanding $220 million! I'll give it to her, I don't care - she doesn't have to leave me...
"The tabloids had a photo of Portia not wearing her wedding ring. She goes, 'I didn't wear it because when I ride horses and I'm holding the reins, it gives me a blister!' The truth is, and this is corny, I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do. She surprises me all the time. It's what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you. We're really lucky because we know how rare it is."
