With the announcement of her place on American Idol's judging panel and the release of her new single, "Triumphant," Mariah Carey is well on her way to her, like, 46th comeback. "Triumphant" is no "Always Be My Baby" (but to be fair, nothing really is), but it's got a catchy-enough beat and Carey sounds good, signature falsetto screech and all. Plus, she's featuring not one, but two rappers. Rick Ross and Meek Mill totally keep her current. With "Triumphant," Carey seems to be saying, "I'm not like a regular mom, I'm a cool mom."
"Triumphant" also features lyrics that are particularly resonant for a woman in the midst of yet another career rebirth. "Can’t fall down now, so even when clouds surround you/ And everyone seems to doubt you/ Baby still know who you are/ So you gotta keep on climbing/ In spite of the chains that bind you/ You can see the mountain top/ It’s not too far," she sings. That's right, girl, keep on truckin' straight to the top. The haters are gonna hate, but you can rise above it.
Since there's nothing like a little Mariah to round out your Friday and kick off the weekend, take a listen to "Triumphant" below and then keep scrolling for some of our all-time favorite Mariah ditties. "Honey," "Shake it Off," "All I Want for Christmas is You" — dang, does homegirl know how to turn out a toe-tapping tune.

Mariah Carey Joins 'American Idol'
Five Ground Rules for Mariah Carey on 'Idol'
During Monday night's episode of Dancing with the Stars, contestant Melissa Gilbert, 47, was injured mid-performance, and was rushed to the hospital instantly. The latest update on the star's condition is that the actress has left the hospital and is resuming with "gentle rehearsal," (as she stated on her Twitter, Wednesday). Gilbert was in the middle of a routine with professional dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy when she suffered a concussion and a case of whiplash.
Gilbert is in fine spirits after the ordeal. The former Little House on the Prairie star is "very happy to be back on campus rehearsing." Clearly, her farm-bred youth in Walnut Grove has toughened her up to take on any challenge. Considering her spirits, it doesn't look like this setback will slow her down on the dance floor. Keep on truckin', Batgirl.

Some time ago, we were graced with the timeless story of a man in a race against time in order to fend off the tyranny of his oppressive government in a futuristic time period. The movie in question is of course In Time, starring Justin Time-berlake and Amanda Seyfried. And on Jan. 31, we'll be able to relive the time-honored tradition of watching this film—it is coming out on Blu-ray and DVD.
The movie follows Timberlake, a man in a society wherein time is, literally, money. You pay for things in minutes. And you take in as much time as possible to keep your life going as long as you'd like. The rich can live forever. The poor die young. People are guaranteed twenty-five years of live. After that, you can only keep truckin' if you can afford it.
The Blu-ray and DVD include a few special features, including deleted and extended scenes. On just the Blu-ray, a special featurette titled "The Minutes," which explores the conception of the film's dystopian society, will be available. Owners of the Blu-ray will also be able to access the In Time: The Game app.
Luckily, you can purchase In Time with good old fashioned money. So you won't have to give up precious life minutes in order to purchase. Although, this is a deal worth dying for! No. That's just ridiculous. Live your life.
