Actor Christian Bale has become a father for the second time. The Dark Knight star and his wife Sibi welcomed a new baby on Monday (18Aug14), according to E! News.
The former model first revealed her baby bump at the Oscars earlier this year (Mar14).
The couple, which wed in 2000, is already parents to nine-year-old daughter Emmeline.
Actor Christian Bale is set to become a father for a second time. Former model Sandra 'Sibi' Bale, 43, displayed a fuller figure as she accompanied The Dark Knight star to the Oscars in Hollywood last Sunday (02Mar14), and now it's been revealed she is pregnant with a sibling for their daughter Emmeline, who turns nine later this month (Mar14).
A representative for the 40-year-old Brit has declined to comment.
The couple wed in 2000.
Meryl Streep and Carey Mulligan's new movie Suffragette is to become the first film shot in Britain's Houses of Parliament. The crew behind the movie, which focuses on women's fight for the right to vote, have been given permission to film scenes in the iconic building in London, marking the first time a commercial production will be shot in parliament.
The filming will take place while parliament is in recess over the Easter break in April (14).
Sir Alan Haselhurst, chairman of the cross-party administration committee, has revealed the move could lead to more movies being shot in the building, adding, "Films will only be allowed if their subject matter is appropriate."
Streep plays women's rights icon Emmeline Pankhurst in the new movie. The actress previously won an Oscar for playing former U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. The drama featured numerous scenes set in the parliament building, but none were filmed in the real location.
Suffragette also stars Mulligan, along with Brits Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Whishaw, and is due for release in 2015.
Actor Christian Bale is still trying to shed the remainder of the 43 pounds (19.5 kilograms) he gained to play an ageing con artist in American Hustle, after stuffing his face with greasy and fatty foods. The Batman Begins star ploughed his way through junk food to expand his waistline, but at 39, he's finding it a little harder to drop the excess weight, months after completing filming.
He tells People.com, "I ate lots of doughnuts, a whole lot of cheeseburgers and whatever I could get my hands on. I literally ate anything that came my way. I was about 185 and went up to 228. I'm still working it off."
The British actor, who also shaved his head to accurately portray a balding man, admits his eight-year-old daughter, Emmeline, enjoyed poking fun at her dad for the drastic transformation: "She found it funny. Having a big old gut and a bald head, she would slap it and tease me. She had lots of fun and found it amusing."
Bale is no stranger to changing his weight to suit a role - he famously lost 60 pounds (27.2 kilograms) for 2004's The Machinist, before packing on muscle for Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, and losing it all again for The Fighter.
The Welsh actor forged an unlikely friendship with Guangcheng last year (12) after the political protester fled his native China and settled in New York with his wife and two children, having spent two years under house arrest.
Bale was on hand to honour Guangcheng at the Human Rights First Awards in the Big Apple last October (12), and the pair has stayed in contact - even enjoying a trip to 'The Happiest Place on Earth' with their families this weekend.
In photos obtained by WENN, Bale's seven-year-old daughter Emmeline chatted away to Guangcheng's little girl Chen Kesi, while the movie star helped to guide the activist as they walked through the themepark.
Bale attempted to speak to Guangcheng in 2011, while he was under house arrest for organising a landmark class-action lawsuit against Chinese authorities. The actor travelled to Dongshigu, China with a CNN camera crew, but was turned away by government guards.
"It's a kick for her and her friends. They enjoy it when I do the voice and chase them around, pretending to be Batman." The Dark Knight star Christian Bale loves to channel his superhero character's voice for playtime with his seven-year-old daughter, Emmeline, and her pals.
The Batman actor had vowed never to marry after witnessing a string of failed relationships growing up.
But he credits former model Sibi Blazic with changing his mind and convincing him to settle down in 2000 - and now the star insists his partner and their daughter Emmeline have made his life complete.
He tells Easy Living magazine, "I never planned to marry. Everyone was divorced in my family so I didn't have very healthy ideas about marriage.
"Then I met Sibi and suddenly it seemed a fantastic idea. And nothing can prepare you for fatherhood. It's the best thing ever. I don't want to leave my daughter's side for one second."
The actor was just 13 years old when he was cast in Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun, and wishes he could have enjoyed more of his youth before shooting to fame.
And Bale wants his five-year-old Emmeline to have an anonymous childhood before trying to make it in Hollywood.
He tells Britain's Empire magazine, "(I) didn't like that (being famous as a teen). That wasn't for me at all. Some people can deal with it, but I found it to be a complete pain in the a**e and embarrassing. Also, there was the annoying notion of everyone going, 'Ah, you should know better' when I was done for shoplifting. But, no, I shouldn't have known better. There was no reason I should. I could have done without that side of things. It was nice to go travelling and have those experiences (filming movies), but look, if anyone in my family - my nieces or my daughter - wanted to start at that age, I'd absolutely believe in and support their dreams, but I would tell them, 'No b***dy way - not professionally.'
"It's just too young. You need to be anonymous at that age, you need to go and get into all sorts of trouble and not have anyone know who you are. It's ruined when everyone knows who you are."
The American Psycho star has lived stateside for nearly 20 years and is married to an American, former model Sibi Blazic.
The actor left his native Wales in 1976, lived in Europe and settled in the U.S. And according to U.S. magazine Star, he has decided to officially make the country his home.
Bale and Blazic currently reside in Los Angeles with the couple's daughter, Emmeline.
A spokesperson for the actor had not responded to requests for comment as WENN went to press.
Performance of composer Tobias Picker's first opera, "Emmeline," based on a true story and later a novel by Judith Rossner. In pre-Civil War Maine, the 13-year-old Emmeline Mosher is sent from her home on a farm in Fayette to earn sorely needed money for her family in the textile mills of Lowell, Massachusetts. She is seduced, becomes pregnant, and flees in shame. Emmeline gives up her baby for adoption and, back in Fayette, lives alone for years. Eventually, she meets a younger man, Matthew Gurney, whom she marries, only later to find out that he is her son. Disgusted, he abandons her, and she lives on in profound disgrace, shunned and more alone than ever.
