Actress Jennifer Garner will never sign up to a social networking website as her life is too boring to bother documenting.
The Dallas Buyers Club actress is adamant she will not be joining her husband, actor Ben Affleck, on Twitter.com, and she has no intention of using photo-sharing website Instagram either. Garner insists her stance has nothing to do with privacy issues or fears she will be hacked - she simply has nothing interesting to tell her online fans.
The mother-of-three tells People magazine, "I have a couple of reasons. One, I don't want any more guilt coming from my phone or computer. I have the hardest time answering emails, anyway, so the last thing I want to feel is indebted to my phone or computer. So it's time. And the other is, what would I Instagram that people would want to see (sic)? There is nothing I would put out that people would want to see. It's probably best to stay away. They don't want to see me and my mom friends after kindergarten drop-off."
Sir Paul McCartney is ramping up his campaign to urge fans to give up eating meat on Mondays to save the environment. The former Beatles star and well-known vegetarian has teamed up with U.K. Energy and Climate advisor Greg Barker to front the Meat Free Monday campaign, which aims to "catalyze transformative change and bring awareness to the global footprint that meat production has on the environment".
In a new video posted on Thursday (18Sep14), McCartney tells fans around the world, "Hi there, Paul speaking. Listen, I need your help. All I want you to do is just log in on pledge.meatfreemondays.com and pledge your support to the idea of Meat Free Mondays.
"That's all you need to do, I need your help. Please do it. We'll send all these pledges to the politicians and then they'll do something about it."
Meat production is responsible for at least 14.5 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions. The issue will be discussed at the Climate Summit in New York City on 23 September (14), marking the first time members of the United Nations will discuss the topic since 2009.
Liam Neeson overcame his crippling fear of heights to spend time with his son on a hill-walking trip. The Taken actor opened up to British magazine Radar about his greatest fears, revealing he is terrified of heights and technology.
Although he refuses to tackle his gadget woes, he did face his fear of heights in the name of father/son bonding.
He says, "I do have a fear of heights but my son and I recently climbed this little peak called Mollie's Nipple in Utah. It's only 3,000 feet or something but I was s**t-scared, especially getting nearer the summit. It wasn't pickaxe time but it was pretty steep.
"Everybody says don't look down but you have to look down. It was scary but I'm glad I did it. I did it for my son."
The Irish star is father to sons Micheal, 19, and 18-year-old Daniel with his late wife, Natasha Richardson.

Actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio has landed a prestigious new role as a United Nations Messenger of Peace on Climate Change.
The Wolf of Wall Street star, who is a passionate environmentalist, will embrace his new job by speaking at the United Nations Climate Summit in New York next week (23Sep14), where he hopes to raise awareness about global warming issues. A statement released by DiCaprio reads: "It's an honor to accept the role of UN Messenger of Peace on Climate Change and to support the Secretary General in his efforts to address one of the most important issues we face as a global community. "I feel a moral obligation to speak out at this key moment in human history - it is a moment for action. How we respond to the climate crisis in the coming years will likely determine the fate of humanity and our planet."
News of the appointment, announced on Tuesday (16Sep14) by U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, comes just days after it emerged that DiCaprio will be honoured for his environmental activism at the eighth annual Clinton Global Citizen Awards. The actor joins the likes of Charlize Theron, Stevie Wonder, Edward Norton and George Clooney, who have all been made Messengers of Peace by U.N. officials in recent years. Clooney stepped down from the peacekeeping role earlier this year (14) after six years due to ongoing personal and professional commitments.
British tycoon Sir Richard Branson's socialite son had to be rescued from the Matterhorn in Switzerland on Wednesday (03Sep14) after becoming stranded at the summit. Sam Branson was participating in the Big Change Virgin Strive Challenge, and climbed to the top of the mountain after previously running three marathons, rowing across the English Channel and cycling to Vervier in Belgium.
But he fell ill and a helicopter rescue crew had to fly in to help him.
The adventurer's dad Richard tells CNBC's Halftime Report, "Today, three of them did manage to get to the top of the Matterhorn, and sadly my son, who did get to the top, suffered extreme altitude sickness, but made it and had to be helicoptered off... He's fine. Everybody's fine."
"But he managed to get from the U.K. to the top of the Matterhorn, and they raised tons of money for young people in the U.K. who had issues, and completed a great mission."
Branson admits it's odd not being the family's top risk taker and adventurer: "It's quite strange now seeing my son off rather than him seeing me off."
Stars including Damian Lewis, Matthew Rhys and Katherine Jenkins have taken part in a commercial to promote tourism in Wales. The Homeland star, who has family connections to Wales, was among the celebrities who filmed video messages welcoming U.S. President Barack Obama and other world leaders to the country for a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, which begins on Thursday (04Sep14).
Their messages form a commercial created by the Welsh Government to promote tourism and business to the world ambassadors.
In the clip, Lewis says, "My family has always had a farmhouse in West Wales and it is, I have to say, my favourite place on earth... welcome to Wales, we hope you find it as magical as we do."
Lewis' actress wife Helen McCrory, whose mother is Welsh, appears in the video along with Brothers & Sisters star Rhys and classical singer Jenkins, who are also both Welsh.

Guardians of the Galaxy cruised to the top of the box office last week, bashing several records in its wake, including the highest August opening of all time. But what's harder than getting to the top is staying there. The film's second weekend faces some stiff competition from a big group of new releases, including the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, the Daniel Radcliffe rom-com What If, the Helen Mirren-starring Disney family movie The Hundred-Foot Journey, the dance flick Step Up All In, and the tornado-laden Into the Storm. Can Marvel's misfits withstand the onslaught and reclaim box office gold once again? We analyze each films chances of winning the weekend.
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
Guardians of the Galaxy's fiercest competition comes by way of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is likely to be the second biggest moneymaker in August. It's a strong contender, and the turtles might have the muscle (and the ninja skills) to knock Guardians off of its pedestal.
Previous Films in the FranchiseTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: $25 million Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze: $20 million Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: $12 million TMNT: $24 million
The Past Five Michael Bay FilmsTransformers: Age of Extinction: $100 million Transformers: Dark of the Moon: $97 million Transformers: Rise of the Fallen: $108 million Transformers: $70 million
The opening weekends for the previous four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films have topped out at about $25 million, which on its own wouldn't be enough to topple Guardians of the Galaxy. But the film's attachment to producer Michael Bay, who is a proven money maker in Hollywood, will likely give this latest reboot a significant boost. The film's marketing has been smart to smatter the Transformers director's name all over the promotional material for the film. The hype for this film is huge and the Guardians might not survive this fight.

INTO THE STORM
The effects-driven disaster film is facing some stiff competition, but disaster films in the past have been able to carve out a nice chunk of box-office cash. Into the Storm is also looking to capitalize on the last legs of the found footage trend. Could Into the Storm rain on Guardians of the Galaxy's parade?
Notable Natural Disaster FilmsThe Impossible: $3 million2012: $65 millionThe Day After Tomorrow: $69 millionTwister: $41 million
The Past Five Found Footage FilmsEarth to Echo: $8 millionA Haunted House 2: $9 millionDevil's Due: $8 millionParanormal Activity: The Marked ones: $18 millionA Haunted House: $18 million
Sadly, Into the Storm likely doesn't have the momentum to reach the top of the charts this weekend. The public's interest in found footage films is slowing in earnest, and Into the Storm doesn't have the same hype surrounding it as the best in the genre. The film's negative reception from critics certainly won't help matters either.

Can Daniel Radcliffe make it in Hollywood without Harry Potter? It's been a question surrounding the actor ever since the massive franchise came to an end in 2011. Radcliffe has boatloads of charm, but all of the likeability in the world doesn't equal movie tickets sold.
The Past Five Romantic ComediesAbout Last Night: $26 millionThink Like a Man Too: $29 millionThe Other Woman: $25 millionBlended: $14 millionAnd So It Goes: $5 million
The Past Five Daniel Radcliffe FilmsKill Your Darlings: $53,000The Woman in Black: $20 millionHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2: $169 millionHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1: $125 millionHarry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: $78 million
What If is an indie export from Britain, and the film isn't opening up in nearly enough theaters to give Guardians of the Galaxy any reasonable competition, but even if the film was widely distributed, the romantic comedy genre isn't a strong enough contender to compete with the superheroes wizzing around in Marvel's latest smash hit. Daniel Radcliffe was a massive box office draw in the Harry Potter franchise, but the actor still hasn't proved himself a moneymaker out of his wizard robes.

THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY
This delightful comedy-drama featuring two competing restaurants stationed right across the street from each other is going after a completely different market than Guardians of the Galaxy, but is this slice of feel good counter programing good enough to contend with not one but two comic book films?
Notable Feel Good ComediesChef: $2 millionAdmission: $6 millionThe Best Exotic Marigold Hotel: $6 millionThe Help: $26 million
The Past Five Helen Mirren FilmsRed 2: $18 millionMonsters University: $82 millionHitchcock: $287,000The Debt: $10 nillionArthur: $12 nillion
The Hundred-Foot Journey looks like a great film to take your mom to in the crush of CGI adventures clogging the theaters, but we highly doubt it will come anywhere close to Guardians of the Galaxy. Helen Mirren isn't as big of a draw as you might expect, and similar films in the same vein have only enjoyed moderate success.

STEP-UP: ALL IN
The improbably long-running dance movie franchise has somehow reached its fifth entry, but will it reach the top of the box office by weekends end?
Previous Films in the FranchiseStep Up: $21 millionStep Up 2 the Streets: $19 millionStep Up 3-D: $16 millionStep Revolution: $12 millionThe Step Up franchise certainly has its work cut out for it. The series' box office totals have been steadily declining with each release, with the last one only managing to secure $12 million in its opening weekend. There's no possible way the newest Step Up film will top Guardians. In fact, with how crowded this weekend is, Step Up might get lost in the shuffle entirely.

British actress Emma Thompson is travelling to the North Pole to highlight environmental issues threatening the Arctic. The Harry Potter star is backing a Greenpeace drive to protect the region from oil drilling and industrial fishing, and she is heading out on an expedition to the icy summit along with her teenage daughter Gaia and Canadian actress Michelle Thrush.
The group began the journey on Monday (04Aug14) after undergoing training in London, and Thompson has been pictured wrapped up warm and sporting a life jacket on a boat at the beginning of the trek.
In a video, she says, "Please follow us (during the trip). I'm not very good with social media but my daughter is going to force me to tweet. I think there is going to be a spot of Instagraming (sic) going on. We need millions and millions of people to say to all the governments of the world we need to protect the arctic..."
Thompson has launched a petition in support of the campaign, and her trip has received backing from celebrity friends including her Saving Mr. Banks co-star Tom Hanks, who writes in a post on Twitter.com, "If you think there is no hope for the Arctic, you don't know my pal Emma! Go, ers! #savethearctic..." and Hugh Grant, who adds, "The increasingly insane Emma Thompson is sailing with Greenpeace to help #savethearctic. Track her and laugh at her anoraks @savethearctic (sic)."

Robert Pattinson uncontrollably sweats when filming sex scenes because he is so nervous.
The Twilight hunk reveals he has issues with excessive perspiration while getting intimate on camera and the problem worsened when he shot upcoming drama Maps to the Stars and had to film a sex scene with co-star Julianne Moore inside the back of a limousine.
He tells Esquire magazine, "It was the first time I met Julianne. And that was the first scene I shot. It was that part of the scene, too, the sex part... I noticed I was sweating. Like really heavy sweat... I remember trying to catch the drops as they fell onto her back. It was weird. Huge splashing drops. At one point she turned around and said, 'Are you alright?'"
Maps to the Stars will hit cinemas in the autumn (14).
