Malta's Prime Minister Joseph Muscat is celebrating after learning Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt plan to make their new movie on his islands. Brangelina recently visited Malta and Gozo and it appears they liked what they saw - Muscat has confirmed the real-life couple's new project will be filmed there.
In a statement obtained by Us Weekly magazine, he writes, "I'm happy that Hollywood producers have once again chosen Malta for their project, and we will be delighted to host Mr. Pitt, Ms. Jolie, and their family for the second time in just a few years.
"I'm sure that this film will help put our beautiful sister island of Gozo on the world map."
Pitt filmed scenes for zombie apocalypse movie Wold War Z in Malta, and Jolie and the couple's kids joined the actor for the Mediterranean shoot.
Reports suggest the new film, a love story written by Jolie, will be filmed in Gozo harbour village Mgarr throughout August (14).
The project will be the couple's first film together since they met and fell in love while making Mr & Mrs Smith in 2007.
Scottish rockers Twin Atlantic were so desperate to achieve their dream of performing at Britain's iconic Glastonbury Festival that they ditched their holiday plans to play a last-minute set. The band was drafted in as an emergency replacement when Canadian DJ duo Chromeo pulled out of a planned appearance at the event last weekend (27-29Jun14).
Twin Atlantic took Chromeo's place on the John Peel Stage as support for main headliners MGMT on Saturday (28Jun14), and they have now revealed they took a drastic step to fulfil their Glastonbury dream.
Singer Sam McTrusty tells Scotland's Daily Record newspaper, "(Bassist) Ross (McNae) had arranged to go to a couple of Hebridean islands with his wife and get some time away.
"(Drummer) Craig (Kneale) had this whole big trip planned to go to Oslo to see Pearl Jam play with a couple of friends and a girlfriend. He has a Pearl Jam tattoo and is in the fan club so it is a big deal that he dropped that and we got to go and play Glastonbury."
However, the band's performance was bittersweet for McTrusty as he missed out on seeing some of his favourite acts at the event.
He adds, "The only negative was that we were on at the same time as the Pixies, who are one of our favourite bands, and we clashed with 30 minutes of Metallica and Jack White."
Dolly Parton's representative has dismissed speculation the country queen mimed her way through a hit-packed set at Britain's Glastonbury Festival on Sunday (29Jun14). The veteran superstar made her debut at the iconic U.K. music event by gracing the main Pyramid Stage on the final day in front of a huge crowd.
Thousands of fans sang along as she ploughed through hits such as Jolene, Islands in the Stream and 9 to 5, but many viewers who were watching the footage on TV at home took to Twitter.com to accuse Parton of lip-syncing.
However, her spokesperson has now quietened critics, saying, "No, she sings live. Some people don't know an amazing singer when they hear one."
Despite the controversy, Parton's set has been hailed the highlight of the weekend (27-29Jun14). Other performers included Arcade Fire, Metallica and Kasabian, who closed the festival with a storming set on Sunday night.
Country legend Dolly Parton stole the show at Britain's Glastonbury Festival on Sunday (29Jun14) as she fulfilled her "lifetime" dream by performing at the event to an audience of more than 100,000 fans.
The field in front of the main stage was packed to capacity for the veteran singer's hotly-anticipated late afternoon set, and she walked on to the stage as the huge crowd chanted her name. Wearing a sparkly silver and white top with matching trousers, Parton ran through a volley of classics including Jolene, 9 to 5, Coat of Many Colors, I Will Always Love You, Islands in the Stream, and a medley of hits including Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You and Real Love.
She was joined onstage by rocker Richie Sambora for her version of Lay Your Hands On Me, and she even performed a rendition of late British funnyman Benny Hill's TV show theme tune and a bizarre new track inspired by the festival's famous mud. Parton also thrilled the crowd by recalling several amusing anecdotes from her career, and told them it was her ultimate ambition to perform at the iconic festival, saying, "It is such an honour and such a thrill to be here at Glastonbury Festival. I've been waiting a lifetime for this... This is a real thrill and a real treat."
The country icon's set took place shortly after she was presented with a special plaque by Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis to celebrate surpassing 100 million album sales worldwide. During the presentation, she said, "I've been so busy making records for the past several decades, I didn't realise I had racked up so many sales. What a great honour to know that I have so many fans that have supported me through the years... I feel very honoured and proud."
British rockers Kasabian are due to close the festival on Sunday night.

TV executive Garth Ancier has filed a motion to dismiss a sex abuse lawsuit against him. Legal action was launched against Ancier in April (14) accusing him and three other men of sexually abusing Michael Egan in Hawaii in 1999, when Egan was still a teenager.
Documents filed with the U.S. District Court of Hawaii on Thursday (29May14) state Egan's claims are "demonstrably false" as Ancier, who denies the allegations, has never been in Hawaii with the complainant and names three witnesses who can testify the former NBC executive did not travel to the islands during the period in question.
The motion also cites testimony by Egan in a separate case in 2000 in which he states he did not go on trips outside the U.S. mainland.
X-Men director Bryan Singer and Broadway producer Gary Goddard, both of whom are also facing lawsuits from Egan, filed similar motions requesting dismissal in May (14).
Retired U.S. rock DJ Dave Herman, who was awaiting trial on a child sex charge, has died aged 78. The U.S. radio personality passed away on Thursday (29May14) at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.
Herman had complained of chest pains while at the county jail and was taken to the local medical centre, but no official cause of death has been released.
Last October (13), the former DJ was arrested in the U.S. Virgin Islands after he was accused of setting up a sexual encounter with a seven-year-old girl through her mother, who turned out to be an undercover police officer.
Herman was accused of plotting to sexually abuse the youngster in the U.S., before reportedly purchasing plane tickets for the pair to fly to his holiday home in Saint Croix.
He faced a judge in the Virgin Islands on a charge of transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, but he did not enter a plea. He was later transported to New Jersey, where local authorities picked up the case and he pleaded not guilty to the federal charge. Herman was denied bail and was awaiting trial at the time of his death.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey confirmed officials were moving to dismiss the charges, which is standard practice upon the death of a defendant.
Herman enjoyed an acclaimed radio career, and fronted the popular Rock And Roll Morning Show from 1972 to 1998.
His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, tells Billboard.com that he hopes the case will not mar the legacy Herman left in the radio industry, saying, "Some would say he lived his last months under a legal cloud and that's true, but we should remember him for the decades he gave the gift of music to people."
