Cee Lo Green's unscripted series The Good Life has been cancelled after just one season. The reality TV show debuted in the U.S. in June (14).
Network executives at TBS opted to cancel The Good Life on Tuesday (02Sep14), hours after the Forget You singer briefly shut down his Twitter.com page following tweets he made on Monday (01Sep14) about the nature of rape.
Green has since deleted the tweets, in which he implied that women can only be raped if they are conscious.
He wrote, "If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! So WITH implies consent. People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!"
Last week (ends29Aug14), Green pleaded no contest to a felony count of furnishing ecstasy to a woman before they had sex. Sexual assault charges were dropped.
Women's rights group UltraViolet petitioned TBS bosses to cancel The Good Life after Green was accused of having sex with the woman he allegedly drugged, but executives insist their decision to cancel the series was based on its poor ratings alone.
Joan Rivers' daughter Melissa has confirmed the veteran comedienne remains on life support, five days after she was admitted to hospital following a major health scare.
The legendary funnywoman has been under doctors' care at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital since Thursday (28Aug14), when she went into cardiac and respiratory arrest during a routine throat operation at a nearby clinic. The 81 year old was placed in a medically-induced coma and on Saturday (30Aug14), reports emerged suggesting her body was relying on machines to keep her alive.
The star's daughter, Melissa Rivers, has now admitted the rumours are true, stating on Tuesday (02Sep14) that "at this time", her mother "does remain on life support".
In the latest update on her condition she concluded, "I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers."
The news comes shortly after network bosses at E! decided to axe filming on a special New York Fashion Week edition of the comedienne's TV show Fashion Police in the Big Apple this week (begs01Sep14).
Italian fashion guru Roberto Cavalli has been slapped with legal action from three street artists amid allegations he copied part of their work to use for a graffiti-inspired collection. The legendary designer reportedly lifted aspects of a mural in San Francisco's Mission District by the group Revok, Reyes and Steel and recreated them for bags, dresses and shoes for his Just Cavalli Graffiti line.
Artists Jason 'Revok' Williams, Victor 'Reyes' Chapa and Jeffrey 'Steel' Rubin filed suit over the issue in the Central District of California on 25 August (14), and Chapa tells the New York Post, "It's really upsetting that our work could have been used for profit in a mass-market type of situation. It brings out all crazy feelings of anxiety and failure because... this work is a culmination of not just a week, but years and years...The fact someone would take it without permission is really sad."
Lawyers for the trio reportedly fired off a cease-and-desist notice to Cavalli to halt the sale of the collection in June (14), but the items remain available to the public.
A spokesperson for Cavalli claims the designer has yet to receive the official news of the lawsuit, but insists the "highly inflammatory allegations" have "no basis in face and are incorrect".
However, the representative adds, "In order to avoid the time and expense of unnecessary litigation, we also intend to communicate with the artists' attorneys to discuss a mutually agreeable resolution of the issues."
Rapper/singer Cee Lo Green temporarily deactivated his Twitter.com account late on Monday (01Sep14) after followers took aim at him for an ill-advised rape comment.
The Forget You hitmaker, real name Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, hit headlines last year (13) after an ex-girlfriend accused him of slipping her ecstasy during a dinner date in Los Angeles in 2012 and then having sex with her. A charge of sexual assault was previously dropped by police due to a lack of evidence, and last week (ends29Aug14), he agreed to serve three years of probation and complete 360 hours of community service after pleading no contest to a felony count of sharing ecstasy.
Green, who denied taking advantage of the woman without her consent, broke his silence on the case on Monday, when he took to his Twitter.com account and appeared to vent his frustration at the allegations.
In a series of posts, he wrote, "People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!! If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent."
The ill-advised tweet prompted followers to take aim at Green, and he later tried to make amends for the careless comments, posting, "Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom (sic)! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context... "I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it was your support that got me thru (sic) this to begin with. I'd never condone the harm of any women. Thank you."
Green deleted his offending tweets and subsequently shut down his profile on the microblogging site. However, his page was live again by Tuesday (02Sep14) afternoon.
A beauty queen stripped of her title as Miss Asia Pacific World is refusing to return her $100,000 (£58,900) crown until she receives a public apology from pageant bosses for accusing her of theft. May Myat Noe recently became Myanmar's first international beauty queen after winning the title in South Korea, but she was dethroned last week (ends29Aug14), with competition spokesman David Kim accusing her of becoming untrustworthy.
He then alleged she had run off with the pricey tiara after learning she was to be stripped of the honour.
However, Noe is now fighting back, and in a press conference held in Myanmar on Tuesday (02Sep14), the 16 year old told reporters she never intended to steal the accessory, but she is now demanding Miss Asia Pacific World chiefs say "sorry" to her before she hands it back.
She said, "I'm not even proud of this crown. I don't want a crown from an organisation with such a bad reputation."
Noe alleges pageant executives lied about her age, claiming she was two years older than she really is, and put pressure on her to undergo plastic surgery to boost her bust size - but she refused the operation.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reunited in Malta a week after their secret wedding in France.
The couple exchanged vows at their estate in France on 23 August (14) and subsequently parted ways as Jolie jetted to Malta to begin work on the couple's new film By The Sea. The newlyweds have spent the week after their wedding apart, but they were reunited on Monday (01Sep14) when Pitt jetted in to the country.
Pictures show the actor arriving at a local airport before being whisked away in a car. He is expected to start work with Jolie on the film this week (beg01Sep14) instead of jetting off for a traditional honeymoon. Jolie has written the script and will direct the movie.
Rapper Pras Michel put a new twist on the charity ice bucket challenge by performing the stunt in North Korea. The former Fugees star jetted to the controversial country last week (ends31Aug14) and he took the chance to douse himself in cold water in the name of a good cause during a visit to the city of Pyongyang, where many Western influences are banned.
Pictures show the musician being drenched with water buckets at the edge of a river, and he tells the Associated Press, "I thought I'd put a little twist to it. When we go to places, my crew, we stick out. You can tell instantly these guys aren't from this neck of the woods. But the people have been good to us."
He went on to nominate his former Fugees co-star Lauryn Hill and British royal Prince Harry for the stunt, which raises money and awareness for the ALS Association.
During his trip to the country, Michel also claimed to be the first American to tweet from North Korea, writing in a post on his Twitter.com page, "First #American to tweet from #NorthKorea very interesting place... (sic)"

Kylie Minogue's guitarist has told a coroner's court how he narrowly dodged death when falling concrete landed on his taxi earlier this year (14). Luke Fitton, who has been the Australian pop star's tour guitarist since 2010, told St. Pancras Coroner's Court in London this week (beg01Sep14) that he feared for his life when the taxi he was sat in with his girlfriend was struck by falling masonry.
The concrete crushed the vehicle, killing its driver, and a large block of debris landed on Fitton's chest.
He told the court, "We’d stopped at traffic lights and it was particularly quiet. Quite instantly, I felt I had a huge piece of concrete on me... I didn't understand what was going on. I was conscious, I was screaming because the pain was so blinding."
Fitton was cut free from the wreckage and spent months walking with crutches following the incident in the capital on Valentine's Day (14Feb14). His girlfriend was not seriously injured but the driver, Julie Sillitoe, was killed almost instantly.
The inquest into Sillitoe's death continues.
