Ncis star Pauley Perrette is recovering after suffering a severe allergic reaction to hair dye. The naturally blonde actress has been dying her locks black for her role on the hit police series for the past 11 seasons, but as she was gearing up to return to work after a summer hiatus, the dye she had been using for the past year prompted an unwanted trip to the hospital.
Perrette took to Twitter.com on Friday (18Jul14) to share a photo of herself in a medical gown with a badly swollen face and a nearly fully shut eye.
She wrote, "This was me at hospital today and it got worse #Allergy #AllergicReaction.
"Did my head look a bit puffy on the red carpet last night? Turns out I was having a dangerous allergic reaction to hair dye. Been battling this for a year now but it gets worse every time. It's an acquired allergy for people that dye their hair for years.
"Was in ER. Just got home from hospital. Awful. My head swelled up huge like a melon... Know the symptoms. It can be fatal. People have died. For real."
Hours after the ordeal, the swelling had gone down and Perrette even walked the red carpet with her co-stars at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Los Angeles.
Panic! At The Disco turned a Westboro Baptist Church picket into a fundraiser for the Human Rights Campaign by pledging $20 (£11.76) for every protester who showed up at their concert on Sunday night (20Jul14). Hours before taking to the stage for their Kansas City, Missouri tour stop, the rockers discovered the religious extremists were planning a protest outside the venue, and they decided to put a positive spin on the demonstration.
The musicians announced on Twitter.com that for every member of Westboro to show up at the protest, the band will donate $20 (£11.76) to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a civil rights organisation which works to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality.
Following the concert, they took to the microblogging site to reveal how much money they raised for the charity, writing, "Thank you (Westboro Baptist Church) for the update on the total amount you donated to @HRC today. $20X13= weak. We're going to make it an even $1,000. We will also be donating 5 per cent of our total merch (merchandise) sales from this show to @HRC."
Singer Michael Buble has a dedicated dentist to thank for helping him perform at his concert in Manchester, New Hampshire last week (end11Jul14) after dislodging a crown on his tooth hours before showtime. The Home hitmaker's tour manager tracked down Dr. David Bloom on Friday morning (11Jul14) after the singer suffered the dental mishap while attempting to tear a ketchup packet with his teeth.
Bloom cleared his schedule for the emergency and Buble showed his gratitude to the medic by posing for photos with him and his staff, before gifting them with front row tickets for his gig at the Verizon Wireless Arena that night.
He even shared the news about his dental disaster with fans at the gig, before publicly thanking Bloom for taking care of him.
Dr. Bloom says, "(Buble) stopped the show and he said, 'Just want to tell you what happened today,' and he told everybody what happened. He said, 'This guy right down here took care of me.'
"It made for a very interesting Friday."
It's not the first time Buble has required emergency dental work while on tour - he knocked out a tooth with his microphone as he performed onstage in Sydney, Australia in May (14).
Country star Jake Owen turned a group of sceptics into fans by giving them tickets to his concert and bringing them up on stage. The Beachin' hitmaker played a gig at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday night (11Jul14), and he spent the hours before the show relaxing by a swimming pool.
Owen heard a trio of ladies chatting nearby and he decided to go over and talk to them, buying drinks and lunch for the women, who were not overly impressed by the country star.
One of the ladies, Ellen Casey, tells People magazine, "We were just there laughing and chatting. Then I see these boys staring at us and I'm thinking they're either going to pull something or they're going to hit on us!
"We bonded because my son is in a band called Hostage Calm and Jake was saying how the best thing about what he does for a living is how proud his parents are of him."
Owen talked to the group for an hour before giving them tickets to his show, but Casey's pal Terri Smith was apprehensive about his offer.
Casey says, "Terri was the one who said she hated country music and she didn't believe he was anybody, so she wouldn't even take a picture with him."
Once the women arrived at the venue, they went to their prime seats, and it wasn't long before Owen called them out during the gig.
He said, "Where's Terri? I was eavesdropping at the pool today and overheard someone say they hated country music," and proceeded to bring all three new fans up to the platform, inviting them to watch the rest of the concert from his onstage tiki bar.
British rapper Chipmunk is wheelchair-bound following a high-speed crash on a quad bike during a recent vacation. The Oopsy Daisy hitmaker, real name Jahmaal Bailey, crashed his motorised vehicle at full speed while on holiday on the Greek island of Crete.
Bailey made his fans aware of the accident on Thursday (10Jul14) by posting a series of pictures on Instagram.com detailing his injuries.
In the images, he is shown with blood rushing down the side of his face and lying on an operating table with a neck brace. He also posted a close-up of his head stitches and another of him in a wheelchair sporting large bandages around his head.
The rapper, who is now back in England, explained the accident and revealed he cannot move his right leg.
He writes, "Today I was meant to fly to LA (Los Angeles) to put my finishing touches at last on records to be properly released... It's been a good 3 years since I've had an official release. So you could imagine how gutted I am. Same speed I'm just merciful to be alive. I know people that have died from bike crashes...
"Quad Bike crash full speed... that looked like a scene out of Final Destination meets Fast & Furious. Came out with 12 stiches (sic) to the head... Grazes all over my body... And no use of my right leg. But can move my toes a lil (little)."
The rapper also told how he was later rushed to hospital on Wednesday (09Jul14) after falling unconscious.
He continues,"So last night I was coolin (relaxing)... Then out of no where (sic) lost consciousness... Went green... Then white... Then had to get rushed to hospital. Where I met that WITCH of a doc (doctor). They gave me further examinations which showed no signs of internal bleeding but my leg considering there was no break or fracture was infected and heavily bruised hence me not being able to move it... Just praying on a smooth recovery man."
On Friday (11Jul14), Chipmunk thanked his fans for their get well messages.
The Emmy Award nominations incited much Twitter rage today, and in the midst of all the hashtags for Tatiana Maslany and Mads Mikkelsen, people seemed to have forgotten about THE Vincent Kartheiser. While Mad Men and Jon Hamm were both [unsurprisingly] nominated, Kartheiser continues to be snubbed for his brilliant performance as the incomparable Pete Campbell. But you know what? He's still KING.
1. Still heralded as his greatest moment, ever:
2. Sure, every man may be a type and may have a type. But when this... lady of the night captured Campbell's "type" it was everything:
3. The audio is ridiculous, but the clip never gets old:
4. Greatest. Middle-aged man. Fist fight. Ever (sure, this is really Lane Pryce's finest hour, but still):
5. Pete + Janis Joplin = all you need in life.

Chris Brown has been caught on camera stumbling out of a nightclub following the BET Awards with three associates attempting to hold him upright.
The troubled singer, who was released from jail at the beginning of June (14), made his comeback on Sunday night (29Jun14) by performing at the glitzy awards show in Los Angeles. After the ceremony, Brown headed to the city's Playhouse nightclub to continue the party and he was caught on tape leaving the venue in the early hours of Monday morning (30Jun14).
In the footage, obtained by TMZ.com, Brown is shown emerging from the venue being supported by two friends, who help carry the star out before another associate goes to help. Brown is seen clutching the third man's arm as he stumbles towards a car driven by his girlfriend Karrueche Tran.
Brown served two months in jail after he admitted breaking the terms of his probation relating to his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.
This year's (14) BET Awards have been marred by drama. Two unofficial pre-parties ended in violence - one reveller suffered stab wounds at an event in L.A. on Saturday (28Jun14), while another was killed in a shooting at a separate event. Reports also suggest another shooting took place outside a star-studded afterparty at the Supper Club venue. No injuries were reported.
The bash is said to have been attended by stars including The Game, Meek Mill, T-Pain, and Busta Rhymes.
La Toya Jackson has urged fans to "celebrate" the life of her late brother Michael with kind deeds as they mark the fifth anniversary of the King of Pop's death. A host of fan gatherings across the world were held on Wednesday (25Jun14) to mark the sad anniversary, and a candlelight vigil around his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles is planned for Wednesday night, but La Toya insists her younger brother would not have wanted devotees to dwell on his death, and she is encouraging them to enjoy his music - and do something for someone in need instead.
In a statement, she writes, "(Michael was) the most incredible father, brother, son and the most talented performed this world has ever known. If Michael were here today he would tell us to all celebrate his life and not to mourn his death."
She adds, "Michael was all about love and peace and, in honor of my brother, I ask you to please do something kind for someone today, and, blast and dance to all the beautiful music he left us all.
"I will spend the day celebrating his life by listening to his music, looking through old home photos, watching his videos and concerts. Michael I love you forever and if you were here today I know you would say, 'I love you more!'"
Michael Jackson's estate executors, John Branca and John McClain, also noted the anniversary in a statement which reads: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael's loved ones today as we remember the kind, gentle and giving spirit who generously shared his amazing artistic gifts with the world along with a limitless empathy for those in need.
"Time has shown that with each passing year the world's appreciation deepens not just for Michael's talent but also for his lifelong passion to spread peace, unity, love and hope across every culture and society. Michael's friendship, kindness, humour and joyful warmth will always be missed. The world is a far better place for having known him."

British rockers The Enemy have scrapped a Monday night (09Jun14) concert in Staffordshire, England because frontman Tom Clarke is too ill to perform. The singer has been struck down with a "serious" stomach ailment and has been advised by medics to rest up, prompting the Away From Here hitmakers to cancel their show at The Sugarmill in Stoke-on-Trent.
In a Twitter.com post on Monday evening, the apologetic stars write, "Regrettably we're sorry to announce that Tom's very unwell and won't be able to perform tonight in Stoke.
"Tom's been suffering for most of the tour with a serious and painful stomach condition and today the doctor has said he can't perform. The shows will be rescheduled as soon as Tom is well enough again.
"So far the tour has been beyond anything we expected. We'd like to thank you all for your support, and ask for your understanding. We'll keep you updated with Tom's condition."
