British entertainer Keith Harris lost an $11.9 million (£7 million) fortune because severe dyslexia left him unable to understand the contracts he was signing. The 66-year-old performer, best known for his ventriloquist act with duck puppet Orville, suffers from the reading condition and he signed a number of unfavourable contracts throughout his career as he wasn't able to fully understand them.
Harris tells Britain's Mail on Sunday, "I've made about £7 million throughout my career, but I've lost it all too. It's all down to the dyslexia. I can't read or write. Reading contacts? I didn't, I just signed them.
"I got into trouble many times. I signed myself away for 14 years to someone once - 25 per cent I was paying. I had no idea. I've been brought up to trust people but you have to be careful. People think you're very rich and want to see if they can make money out of you."
Harris said he managed his dyslexia during his career by asking friends to read out scripts so he could learn his lines, adding, "I felt embarrassed about it, of course, because everyone thought I was intelligent."
The ventriloquist briefly considered drowning himself in a duck pond when his TV show ended in 1990, but he now works at holiday camps and in family pantomime theatre shows.
Liam Payne whipped One Direction fans into a frenzy when he posted a supposedly nude snap online. The What Makes You Beautiful hitmaker revealed an image on Instagram.com on Sunday (27Jul14) featuring himself on the back of a yacht seemingly naked, with his private parts censored.
In the caption, he pretended he had lost his underwear by writing, "Damn that was my last pair!"
The picture caused a storm with fans but they were left disappointed hours later when Payne posted the image again without any pixellation - revealing he was wearing underwear all along.
He wrote, "Oh I found them never mind aha (sic)."

Rapper Nicki Minaj has mysteriously pushed the release of her new single Anaconda back a week. The Starships hitmaker was planning on unveiling her track on Monday (28Jul14), but fans will have to wait until 4 August (14) to hear her new music.
Taking to Instagram.com on Sunday (27Jul14), Minaj posted a photo of her controversial cover art for Anaconda and added the caption, "My darlingz (sic), I've pushed the release of Anaconda to next week, Monday 8/4. I promise you will understand why before the week is out. Loveeeeeeee uuuuuu (sic)".
On Thursday (24Jul14), Minaj unveiled the cover for the single, which features the voluptuous star crouching down with her back towards the camera, wearing only a pink sports bra, blue Air Jordan sneakers, and a barely-there thong, exposing her bare butt.
Since posting the shot, a number of critics have taken aim at her for showing too much skin, but she shot back with her own defence in a series of pictures posted on Instagram.
Minaj posted photos of Sports Illustrated cover girls including Kate Upton, Chrissy Teigen, Nina Agdal and Lily Aldridge, who are all prominently posing with tiny bikini bottoms and showing off their rear ends, along with a caption, "Acceptable".
She then reposted the Anaconda cover art and wrote, "Unacceptable".
Wiz Khalifa has expressed his disappointment with fellow rapper Tyga for pulling out of his new North American tour, insisting it was a "wack move". The hip-hop star invited Tyga to join him on the road for his third annual Under the Influence of Music trek in the spring (14), but the Rack City hitmaker withdrew from the live shows earlier this month (Jul14), just two weeks before the gigs kicked off in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Thursday (24Jul14).
Tyga took to his Twitter.com account to explain his reasons for his abrupt exit, claiming he wanted to use the time to finish up his album and work on a movie instead, but Khalifa has made it clear he is not interested in his excuses.
During an interview on Philadelphia radio station Power 99 on Friday (25Jul14), Khalifa revealed his pal had failed to break the news to him himself.
The Black and Yellow star explained, "He didn't tell me at all. His people was just like, 'Nah, we ain't gonna be on the tour (sic).'"
Khalifa hasn't spoken to Tyga since, but he insists there is no bad blood between the pair: "I'm sure he'll probably hear interviews of me saying that I thought that it was wack (bad) and he didn't reach out. I'm the type of person, I talk to people when I want to. We cool, that's the homie, and that was just a wack move (sic)."
He continued, "I felt like that (his excuse) was just corny. We're better than that. At the end of the day, you don't say 'album and a movie' to sound like you have something to do, 'cause I did my album before the tour and I'm shooting a movie once I get off tour and I got a son. So, at the end of the day, what do you want to do with your life?"
The Under the Influence of Music tour also features Rich Homie Quan and DJ Drama on the line-up.
Music icon Aretha Franklin stormed out of a fast food restaurant in Ontario, Canada last week (22Jul14) after a nasty encounter with a rude employee. The Queen of Soul stopped by the Johnny Rockets eatery in Niagara Falls after performing a sold-out gig in nearby Lewiston, New York and took a seat at an empty booth as she waited for her hamburger and Cherry Coke take out order to be prepared.
However, she was soon confronted by a young waitress who demanded Franklin move from the booth as tables were reserved for eat-in customers only, even though it wasn't busy.
The singer, who was with her nephew at the time, decided she would have her burger at the restaurant instead, but the server insisted that was not allowed as she had already placed her order for takeaway.
The woman then ordered Franklin to stand outside the Johnny Rockets venue, which was located inside a food court, but the veteran star had had enough.
Franklin tells the New York Daily News, "I got up and walked out. I said, 'You should eat it yourself and you pay for it.'
"My nephew mentioned to her who I was and she said she didn't care who I was."
The Respect hitmaker, 72, reveals she was disgusted by the waitress' behaviour and insists she needs to be "spoken to" about her attitude, saying, "She's a public servant and she shouldn't speak that way to anybody, celebrities or non-celebrities.
However, Franklin claims the encounter won't put her off eating at Johnny Rockets again. She adds, "I like Johnny Rockets and I'll go on liking Johnny Rockets, but not that one."
A spokesperson for the franchise owner has since issued a public apology to Franklin for the actions of "a new and very young employee".
"There are moments in which you kind of want to break free because you're being touched all the time and that kind of makes me anxious." Actress Zoe Saldana felt a little uncomfortable undergoing four-hour make-up sessions to make her skin look green for her new comic book sci-fi film Guardians Of The Galaxy.
"Do you know what, I'm reluctant to say, I watched the whole thing of? Scandal. It's amazing. I was with somebody, they were watching, I was like, 'What is this show?' and I watched one episode... and then I literally spent the next four days watching the whole thing. I love it... Scandal is like, the sort of stepbrother or stepchild of House of Cards." Actor Bradley Cooper is hooked on Kerry Washington's political drama.
Filmmaker Peter Jackson mingled with fans undetected at Comic-Con in San Diego, California on Saturday (26Jul14) by dressing up as an evil jester. The Lord of the Rings director, who was there to attend a panel discussion on his The Hobbit film franchise, decided to don a black and white costume with matching face mask so he could enjoy the festivities at the annual bash without being hounded by devotees, and it wasn't until later that night that he went public with his disguise.
He shared a series of photos of himself undercover, posing with other attendees at the event on his Facebook.com page and included one shot of himself pulling off his face mask to reveal his real identity.
In the accompanying caption, he wrote, "I had a fun day at Comic Con walking among you all. Did anyone see the Evil Jester? Some of you did because you asked him to pose for pics! Cheers, Peter J".
Jackson isn't the only celebrity to dress up for the 2014 Comic-Con event - Daniel Radcliffe donned a Spider-Man costume to roam around the pop culture convention, while Jack Black also tried to go undercover on Thursday (24Jul14) by wearing a suit and covering his face in a Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet - only for him to be recognised by his voice.
Australian pop star Peter Andre was startled when a pregnant fan went into labour while he was chatting to her at a signing. The Mysterious Girl hitmaker was in Bury St Edmunds, England on Saturday (26Jul14) to promote his new women's fragrances, Forever and Forever Young.
He was talking to a fan while signing a perfume bottle when she suddenly went into labour.
Andre wrote on Twitter.com, "So yesterday I was signing bottles of my perfume and as I was talking to this lady, she went into labour ... she now has a beaut (beautiful) baby. Wow... So my perfume can officially put you in labour."
The singer urged the fan to come forward, and the new mum, named Claire Reynolds, shared a picture of her son and told Andre, "meet baby harry (who) went into labour at ur (sic) perfume signing 2day (sic) in Bury."
