"I found that I'm basically lazy. I love acting, but it doesn't take that long. If I'm lucky I can do four movies a year, but only one as a director." MORGAN FREEMAN on why he's never followed up his directorial debut, 1993's Bopha!
A special which combines documentary and drama to explore the complex relationship that exists in South Africa between black police and those blacks who oppose the system of white rule. The Earth Players, a group of four black actors, dramatize the plight of the black police caught between white rule and the black community in "Bopha", (which means "arrest" to black South Africans), a play by Percy Mtwa. The program follows the troupe from township to township, blending scenes from the play with film depicting the real violence and conflict that is taking place in South Africa today.
