Chesley suffered broken bones, torn ligaments and nerve damage and will require shoulder surgery. He tells the website that he plans to send a thank you note and fruit basket to the sports icon for his help.
Sharon Osbourne was once placed on mental lockdown after drunkenly slashing her left wrist with a steak knife to prove how much she loved her now-husband Ozzy. The rock matriarch was 27 and had just started dating the married Black Sabbath frontman when she decided to express her undying love for the heavy metal star in a bloody fashion while holed up in a hotel during a tour stop in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Coming clean about the scars on her arm during Wednesday's (17Sep14) episode of her U.S. daytime show The Talk, she prefaced the story by explaining, "This is a secret... only Ozzy and I know; my children I have never told. I've never discussed it out of embarrassment of how stupid I was at the time to have done such a thing to myself..."
She then continued, "When we first got together, we would drink a lot together... We had a session of romance, drinking, partying. It was about four in the morning and he says to me, 'How much do you really love me? I don't know if this relationship is gonna last' and I was saying, 'I'd do anything for you, anything. I absolutely adore you... I'd give my life for you'. (He says), 'OK, prove it'.
"It wasn't him, it was me, me, me... I'm very dramatic... and when I say something, I like to follow it through, so I'm like, 'I'll show you how much I love you', so I went to a room service table (in the room)... and there was a steak knife. So I get the knife and I go (slash at wrists), 'I love you so much', slash, slash, slash, on my wrist. And unfortunately for me, I kinda went too deep and it wouldn't stop bleeding... I got very sober, very quickly."
Emergency services were called to treat Sharon's wounds, but paramedics were so convinced she had attempted to commit suicide, she was taken to hospital and placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold.
Sharon was only released after medics were satisfied she wasn't completely crazy, and she now admits it's a time in her life she will always regret.
She concludes, "I permanently scarred my wrists, I was on lockdown for being over dramatic and drunk at the time...
"So if anybody out there who likes to cut or harm themselves or try and prove (something) to someone, firstly let me tell you these scars are a big embarrassment. I tell everyone I was attacked by a dog - which I was... but it was the other arm...! It's sad, pathetic on a 61 year old. It's a reminder to us all."
Sharon and Ozzy wed in 1982, shortly after he divorced his first wife Thelma Riley.
After her TV confession, Sharon took to Twitter and revealed telling the story was a big relief. She wrote: "I wanted to share my secret because it is a lesson to be learned."
A builder working on a construction site horrified star guests at a London Fashion Week show on Tuesday (16Sep14) when he plunged through a glass roof. The accident happened during a Fashion East event at a Topshop Show Space in the city, and attendees including former MTV presenter Alexa Chung and pop star Pixie Lott were left shocked by the incident.
Eyewitnesses report the victim toppled through a corrugated plastic roof panel and bounced off a large metal pipe before plummeting 50 feet (15.3 metres) and landing on his back.
Paramedics were called and the man, who has not been named, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
A witness tells Britain's Daily Telegraph, "At first there was confusion, we thought it was a light falling over. Then security men started running backstage and there was loud shouting. The weird thing was that the show just carried on. The whole audience was totally bewildered."
A spokesman tells Vogue, "The way that the Topshop space is built, the walls that separate the catwalk and audience space from backstage don't go all the way to the ceiling, so people could see that something had happened, but it did not in any way endanger the audience. It didn't happen above people's heads and there was no one in the space where he fell."
Troubled British soccer icon Paul Gascoigne was hospitalised on Thursday (21Aug14) after he was found slumped outside his home following a heavy-drinking season. The sports star has been battling his alcohol demons for years and went to rehab for the seventh time in January (14) in a bid to get sober.
However, Gascoigne appeared to have relapsed when he was found slumped outside his luxury apartment in Dorset, England holding a bottle of vodka.
Concerned neighbours called police, and paramedics took him to nearby Poole Hospital for treatment.
A source tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "It is very sad. But the reality is Paul has been drinking for the past few weeks and once that happens things will only end one way.
"Today things came to a head. He has had a lot on his plate as he is in the process of trying to find somewhere to live... His landlord had given him 10 days to get out of the flat and it was weighing on his mind. Obviously things became too much for him in the past couple of days and he has turned back to the bottle."
The West Wing star Janel Moloney used her first aid skills to help a woman who passed out on New York City's subway system. The actress has been hailed a heroine for stepping in after the female passenger collapsed on the train.
Moloney made the woman comfortable and stayed with her until paramedics arrived on the scene.
She tells the New York Daily News, "A young woman passed out in train and then stumbled off the train and collapsed on a platform. I had just taken an emergency first aid class, so I kind of summoned up my list of Things To Do and Not Do! She passed out, probably due to the heat.
"She was breathing fine. I just sat with her until she came to and talked to her until help arrived. People kept wanting to pour water on her face and I told them that would just make her wet. I felt like I was the person there who was responsible for her somehow. I was really happy I could help."

Multiple sources have since reported a blood clot in Johns' leg as the cause of death, with sources telling editors at TMZ.com the singer had visited a doctor on Thursday (31Jul14) complaining of pain and swelling following a twisted ankle. He was allegedly found unresponsive at a friend's apartment the next day and was already dead when paramedics arrived.
Johns finished eighth in the U.S. TV talent contest in 2008 but continued to work on music following his departure from the show and released album Hold Back My Heart in 2009.
American Idol judge Simon Cowell paid tribute to Johns with a post on Twitter.com, writing, "I just heard the very sad news that Michael Johns has passed away. A truly great guy. Rest in peace Michael."

Fallen British singer Tulisa Contostavlos attempted suicide after she was charged with brokering a drug deal last year (13). The former N-Dubz star downed a potentially lethal batch of painkillers washed down with vodka when she discovered she would be charged with setting up a drug deal for undercover reporter Mazher Mahmood.
In a new documentary, entitled Tulisa: The Price of Fame, she reveals, "I'd had a drink so everything felt more intensified. So, like an idiot, I picked up 11 co-codamol and necked (swallowed) them with a bottle of vodka... I didn't know what I was thinking or what I was planning to do."
Her assistant Gareth Varey called an ambulance and paramedics sat with her in her home for a few hours.
She adds, "They couldn't let me go to sleep at first but eventually I did. I woke up the next day just feeling numb."
The singer also tells U.K. TV show Good Morning Britain, "I felt like my life was over. Like someone had taken my life away. They took it out of my hands and took it away in a second... The biggest fear for me was losing my livelihood; something I have worked for from the age of 11 years old. I've not known anything else, it's all I have had. It's my life.
"I just woke up one day and it was taken out of hands - I had no control - I couldn't work, I couldn't speak to clear my name because of legal reasons."
The singer was cleared of the charge earlier this month (Jul14) due to inconsistencies in Mahmood's evidence. The journalist faces an internal investigation at Britain's The Sun on Sunday newspaper.
The documentary airs in the U.K. on Monday (28Jul14).
Dozens of concert-goers were hospitalised during Keith Urban's concert in Mansfield, Massachusetts on Saturday night (26Jul14). The You'll Think of Me hitmaker brought his Raise 'Em Up Tour to the Xfinity Center but the gig was marred when emergency medics from five mutual aid communities were called in to treat a high number of revellers who had become ill.
Local police and fire chiefs tell news station NECN that 46 people were treated for "alcohol-related" illnesses, and 22 of them were sent to local hospitals for further treatment.
In addition, 50 concertgoers were arrested and taken into custody for unspecified reasons.
In a joint statement, the local Police and Fire Department officials say, "We would like to commend all those working the concert from ushers, to security, to the Police, EMS, and Fire personnel who worked and the local hospitals for their professionalism and resilient efforts during this busy show."
Last month (Jun14), Swedish DJ Avicii's nearby Boston gig also descended into chaos as audience members fell ill, with around 50 people treated by paramedics on site and another 36 taken to nearby hospitals, pointing to dehydration or excessive alcohol and drug use as a probable cause.
Police were called to the set of U.S. reality TV show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta in New York City on Tuesday night (15Jul14) after a brawl allegedly broke out.
The castmembers were taping a reunion episode in the Big Apple, but the shoot descended into chaos when an argument erupted between a number of the show's stars, according to TMZ.com.
Editors of the website report security guards struggled to contain the fight, and emergency services were called to the scene.
Cops are said to have attended the set, along with paramedics who treated three people for injuries.
Scottish actress Vivian Gray gave birth to her son in a street on her way to a local hospital. The 31 year old began having contractions a week before her due date, and believed she had plenty of time to walk to the local maternity unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
However, as she was on her way with her husband Adrian Jayasinha and her mother Alicia Gray, she realised she was close to giving birth, and she had to sit down on the pavement about 30 yards from the hospital.
Her mum laid down her jacket for her expectant daughter to sit on, and then ran to the hospital to get help.
Vivian tells the Daily Mail newspaper, "The hospital was extremely efficient. Within three minutes, two midwives, two assistant midwives and two paramedics were with me with all the equipment and held sheets round me to screen me from view while they delivered the baby."
The couple's newborn son, Sky, joins older brother Liam, two.
