Victoria's Secret beauty Doutzen Kroes is stepping down from her post as one of the lingerie brand's top models days after it was announced Karlie Kloss had quit to focus on her college studies. The Dutch model has been a veteran "angel" for the company for the past seven years, but Kroes secretly cut her ties from Victoria's Secret in December (14), and the company's president confirmed the news on Tuesday (24Feb15).
In a response to fans questioning Kroes' relationship with the brand, VS president and chief marketing officer Ed Razek took to Instagram.com to address the reports, writing, "After I posted the news about Karlie Kloss leaving VS I got a number of texts asking me why I hadn't said anything about Doutzen leaving at the end of last year. Fair question.
"The simple answer is I should have. Doutzen had a lucrative opportunity in Europe and it would have conflicted with her VS obligations. So, at her agencies (sic) request, we released her from (her) contract. There was no conflict. No animosity. None of the nonsense I've read on Instagram.
"She had a great business opportunity, and I wanted to be fair to someone I adore and respect. That’s all. I honestly believe Doutzen is one of the most stunningly beautiful people in the world. And I always will. I have told her that many times. Now you know."
Kroes, 30, welcomed her second child, daughter Myllena Mae, with husband Sunnery James last July (14). She is also mum to son Phyllon Joy, who was born in 2011.
British TV presenter Carol Mcgiffin was diagnosed with breast cancer last year (14). The former panellist on daytime talk show Loose Women was diagnosed in February (14) after discovering a lump in her breast while on holiday in Malaysia, but she decided to keep it a secret from viewers and fans.
McGiffin has undergone a mastectomy and chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions, and she has now spoke out about the ordeal, telling Britain's Sunday People newspaper, "I feel it is over now and I've got I through it. I just want to be able to go out without my hat on and for people not to be bothered. I just want life to get back to normal."
McGiffin also reveals she kept tight-lipped about her cancer battle partly because she didn't want to upset her Loose Women co-star Lynda Bellingham, who was fighting cancer herself but passed away in October (14).
McGiffin adds, "I thought it would be really unfair of me to tell Lynda about my situation. She was such an unselfish person, so she would have loved it if there was someone else to worry about... The last time I saw her was one of the handful of times I've worn my wig. I met up with some of the old Loose Women beforehand and we'd agreed not to tell her."

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has publicly pitched a buddy cop movie idea to Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in a bid to land a role opposite his wrestling hero. The 25 year old reveals he used to imitate wrestlers as a child to perfect his American accent and now he's become a movie star, he would love to team up with fighter-turned-actor The Rock, even though he openly admits they would make an unlikely pair onscreen.
Radcliffe has even come up with his own idea for a project he hopes the action man would be interested in.
During an appearance on America's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday (28Oct14), he explained, "The Rock was always my favourite... and I harbour a not-so-secret desire to somehow find a part for me and Dwayne Johnson to play in the same movie...
"My initial thought was a buddy cop movie about two kind of unlikely partners who are forced to work together and then are bonded by... their love of music... (The film would be) called Siren Song, so we could pitch that (to Johnson)... Wouldn't you like to see me and The Rock do that?"
Turning to the camera, Radcliffe appealed directly to Johnson to get in touch, saying, "So The Rock, if you want to make (this film)...!"
And Radcliffe's enthusiasm for a joint project wouldn't be a surprise for Johnson, because he already knows how big a fan the Brit is of his days in the ring.
The actor added, "He knows I'm a fan 'cause I've had mutual friends who've dressed him on other films and stuff, so I actually have a T-shirt that one of them got him to make me... well they made it, he took the picture... but it's just a T-shirt with a picture of him holding up a sign saying, 'Dan Radcliffe, Number One Fan', which I have, I have that!"
Prince's longtime percussionist and secret girlfriend Sheila E had to give up dreams of becoming a wife and mother and an Olympic athlete to make it as a musician. The star, real name Sheila Escovedo, was a champion sprinter working on a run at the Olympics when her life changed as she took the stage with her father, Latin jazz legend Pete Escovedo, to replace one of his sick bandmates.
She instantly became hooked on music and vowed to follow that dream instead.
But she tells Closer magazine, "I love every moment when I am performing, but the rest of the time, it is a lot of hard work and it can be brutal. There is a lot I had to sacrifice. I would love to be married. I sacrificed having a family and being a mum.
"I wanted to be the first female astronaut and win a gold medal in track and field. I was a sprint runner and focused for years on making it to the Olympics.
"My dad always had percussion instruments around the house. We would go bang on them for fun. One day, when I was 15, the man who did percussion for my dad got sick right before their show in San Francisco. My mum and I convinced him to let me play. During the show, my dad turned to me and gestured to play a solo. I closed my eyes and played from the heart. When I opened my eyes, 3,000 people were clapping and roaring. I've been doing it ever since."
Sharon Osbourne was once placed on mental lockdown after drunkenly slashing her left wrist with a steak knife to prove how much she loved her now-husband Ozzy. The rock matriarch was 27 and had just started dating the married Black Sabbath frontman when she decided to express her undying love for the heavy metal star in a bloody fashion while holed up in a hotel during a tour stop in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Coming clean about the scars on her arm during Wednesday's (17Sep14) episode of her U.S. daytime show The Talk, she prefaced the story by explaining, "This is a secret... only Ozzy and I know; my children I have never told. I've never discussed it out of embarrassment of how stupid I was at the time to have done such a thing to myself..."
She then continued, "When we first got together, we would drink a lot together... We had a session of romance, drinking, partying. It was about four in the morning and he says to me, 'How much do you really love me? I don't know if this relationship is gonna last' and I was saying, 'I'd do anything for you, anything. I absolutely adore you... I'd give my life for you'. (He says), 'OK, prove it'.
"It wasn't him, it was me, me, me... I'm very dramatic... and when I say something, I like to follow it through, so I'm like, 'I'll show you how much I love you', so I went to a room service table (in the room)... and there was a steak knife. So I get the knife and I go (slash at wrists), 'I love you so much', slash, slash, slash, on my wrist. And unfortunately for me, I kinda went too deep and it wouldn't stop bleeding... I got very sober, very quickly."
Emergency services were called to treat Sharon's wounds, but paramedics were so convinced she had attempted to commit suicide, she was taken to hospital and placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold.
Sharon was only released after medics were satisfied she wasn't completely crazy, and she now admits it's a time in her life she will always regret.
She concludes, "I permanently scarred my wrists, I was on lockdown for being over dramatic and drunk at the time...
"So if anybody out there who likes to cut or harm themselves or try and prove (something) to someone, firstly let me tell you these scars are a big embarrassment. I tell everyone I was attacked by a dog - which I was... but it was the other arm...! It's sad, pathetic on a 61 year old. It's a reminder to us all."
Sharon and Ozzy wed in 1982, shortly after he divorced his first wife Thelma Riley.
After her TV confession, Sharon took to Twitter and revealed telling the story was a big relief. She wrote: "I wanted to share my secret because it is a lesson to be learned."
Actress Zosia Mamet has gone public with her eating disorder troubles, confessing she "nearly died" during her youth after keeping her weight struggles under wraps for years. The Girls star, daughter of playwright David Mamet, opens up about her food hell in the September (14) issue of America's Glamour magazine, in which she has a monthly advice column.
She writes, "Do you have a secret? Is your secret something that could kill you, a silent gnawing feeling that's slowly melting you away, little by little, something deadly that nobody else can see? Mine is. And it is this: I've struggled with an eating disorder since I was a child. This struggle has been mostly a private one, a war nobody knew was raging inside me. I tried to fight it alone for a long time. And I nearly died."
Mamet reveals her battle began when she was just a kid after taking a nasty comment to heart.
She continues, "I was told I was fat for the first time when I was eight. I'm not fat; I've never been fat. But ever since then, there has been a monster in my brain that tells me I am - that convinces me my clothes don't fit or that I've eaten too much. At times it has forced me to starve myself, to run extra miles, to abuse my body."
The actress, now 26, credits her famous father for forcing her to get help during her late teens, an intervention which saved her life.
She adds, "My dad eventually got me into treatment. He came home one night from a party, took me by the shoulders, and said, 'You're not allowed to die.' It was the first time I realized this wasn't all about me. I didn't care if I died, but my family did. That's the thing about these kinds of disorders: They're consuming; they make you egocentric; they're all you can see.
"During treatment I discovered that my disorder has never really been about weight or food - that's just the way the monster manifests itself. Really these diseases are about control: control of your life and of your body."
Mamet is the latest celebrity to share her eating disorder story - singers Demi Lovato and Kesha have been open about their body issues in recent months, after each enduring stints in rehab, in a bid to help others struggling with similar problems.
"I'm not very fashionable, but I love fashion. My stripper shoes are great. They're my secret weapon. They're not so secret anymore. It means I can look Nicole Kidman in the eye. I've got two pairs of them. It's (always) the same ones." Helen Mirren loves walking tall on the red carpet.
Supermodel Miranda Kerr has reconciled with her parents after they made a public plea for her to head back to Australia following a year-long estrangement. The brunette beauty left her native country and moved to New York five years ago, and the distance between her and her folks appeared to destroying their relationship in February (14) when they filmed an emotional segment for Australian TV show Family Confidential, in which they claimed they did had not spoken to the 31 year old in over a year.
However, Kerr has now opened up about the matter, revealing she has made up with her parents and has been spending time with them since arriving Down Under for work last week (ends04May14).
She tells Channel 7's Sunrise, "I've seen my family as soon as I've arrived (sic). It's so good to spend time with them and to finally be back after a year and a half."
The former Victoria's Secret model went on to explain she doesn't feel there was "any ill intention" behind her parents' TV interview.
She continues, "That was kind of done without me knowing about it, and it's funny because I'd invited them over (to New York) many times throughout the year, and they'd been too busy.
"My dad and my brother work for me, and my mum has her own organic line now, and I think the media spun that on them - they weren't really trying to do anything, they're just a little naive, unfortunately. They got sucked into a situation and things get edited."
British model Jodie Kidd is set to marry boyfriend David Blakeley after a whirlwind romance. The blonde beauty met her ex-army soldier beau last summer (13), and in December (13), Blakeley proposed while on holiday in India.
The couple has now shared the news of their secret engagement in an interview with Hello! magazine, in which Kidd gushes, "It's absolutely brilliant. We are totally chuffed (pleased) and on cloud nine.
"David and I got on from the start and things have moved quickly. We are in love and very happy. He is an amazing man."
Blakeley adds, "I've never felt like this before. I knew it was different from the moment I met Jodie. I absolutely feel it is something extremely special and unique and irreplaceable with Jodie.
This is the first marriage for Blakeley, whose 2012 book, Pathfinder: A Special Forces Mission Behind Enemy Lines, became a best seller, and the second for Kidd, who split from internet entrepreneur Aidan Butler after an 18 months union in 2007.
She also has a two-year-old son called Indio from her previous relationship with Andrea Vianini.
