When you think of The Office, you probably think about Michael Scott (Steve Carrell), Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer), or Jim Halpert (John Krasinski). Although many of the storylines surrounded them, fans found the show hilarious thanks to the delivery of little jokes from the supporting characters. The one that consistently shocked and made fans laugh was The Office's secret weapon, Creed Bratton an actor who played a character also named Creed Bratton. Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has publicly pitched a buddy cop movie idea to Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in a bid to land a role opposite his wrestling hero. The 25 year old reveals he used to imitate wrestlers as a child to perfect his American accent and now he's become a movie star, he would love to team up with fighter-turned-actor The Rock, even though he openly admits they would make an unlikely pair onscreen.
Radcliffe has even come up with his own idea for a project he hopes the action man would be interested in.
During an appearance on America's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday (28Oct14), he explained, "The Rock was always my favourite... and I harbour a not-so-secret desire to somehow find a part for me and Dwayne Johnson to play in the same movie...
"My initial thought was a buddy cop movie about two kind of unlikely partners who are forced to work together and then are bonded by... their love of music... (The film would be) called Siren Song, so we could pitch that (to Johnson)... Wouldn't you like to see me and The Rock do that?"
Turning to the camera, Radcliffe appealed directly to Johnson to get in touch, saying, "So The Rock, if you want to make (this film)...!"
And Radcliffe's enthusiasm for a joint project wouldn't be a surprise for Johnson, because he already knows how big a fan the Brit is of his days in the ring.
The actor added, "He knows I'm a fan 'cause I've had mutual friends who've dressed him on other films and stuff, so I actually have a T-shirt that one of them got him to make me... well they made it, he took the picture... but it's just a T-shirt with a picture of him holding up a sign saying, 'Dan Radcliffe, Number One Fan', which I have, I have that!"
Prince's longtime percussionist and secret girlfriend Sheila E had to give up dreams of becoming a wife and mother and an Olympic athlete to make it as a musician. The star, real name Sheila Escovedo, was a champion sprinter working on a run at the Olympics when her life changed as she took the stage with her father, Latin jazz legend Pete Escovedo, to replace one of his sick bandmates.
She instantly became hooked on music and vowed to follow that dream instead.
But she tells Closer magazine, "I love every moment when I am performing, but the rest of the time, it is a lot of hard work and it can be brutal. There is a lot I had to sacrifice. I would love to be married. I sacrificed having a family and being a mum.
"I wanted to be the first female astronaut and win a gold medal in track and field. I was a sprint runner and focused for years on making it to the Olympics.
"My dad always had percussion instruments around the house. We would go bang on them for fun. One day, when I was 15, the man who did percussion for my dad got sick right before their show in San Francisco. My mum and I convinced him to let me play. During the show, my dad turned to me and gestured to play a solo. I closed my eyes and played from the heart. When I opened my eyes, 3,000 people were clapping and roaring. I've been doing it ever since."
Sharon Osbourne was once placed on mental lockdown after drunkenly slashing her left wrist with a steak knife to prove how much she loved her now-husband Ozzy. The rock matriarch was 27 and had just started dating the married Black Sabbath frontman when she decided to express her undying love for the heavy metal star in a bloody fashion while holed up in a hotel during a tour stop in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Coming clean about the scars on her arm during Wednesday's (17Sep14) episode of her U.S. daytime show The Talk, she prefaced the story by explaining, "This is a secret... only Ozzy and I know; my children I have never told. I've never discussed it out of embarrassment of how stupid I was at the time to have done such a thing to myself..."
She then continued, "When we first got together, we would drink a lot together... We had a session of romance, drinking, partying. It was about four in the morning and he says to me, 'How much do you really love me? I don't know if this relationship is gonna last' and I was saying, 'I'd do anything for you, anything. I absolutely adore you... I'd give my life for you'. (He says), 'OK, prove it'.
"It wasn't him, it was me, me, me... I'm very dramatic... and when I say something, I like to follow it through, so I'm like, 'I'll show you how much I love you', so I went to a room service table (in the room)... and there was a steak knife. So I get the knife and I go (slash at wrists), 'I love you so much', slash, slash, slash, on my wrist. And unfortunately for me, I kinda went too deep and it wouldn't stop bleeding... I got very sober, very quickly."
Emergency services were called to treat Sharon's wounds, but paramedics were so convinced she had attempted to commit suicide, she was taken to hospital and placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold.
Sharon was only released after medics were satisfied she wasn't completely crazy, and she now admits it's a time in her life she will always regret.
She concludes, "I permanently scarred my wrists, I was on lockdown for being over dramatic and drunk at the time...
"So if anybody out there who likes to cut or harm themselves or try and prove (something) to someone, firstly let me tell you these scars are a big embarrassment. I tell everyone I was attacked by a dog - which I was... but it was the other arm...! It's sad, pathetic on a 61 year old. It's a reminder to us all."
Sharon and Ozzy wed in 1982, shortly after he divorced his first wife Thelma Riley.
After her TV confession, Sharon took to Twitter and revealed telling the story was a big relief. She wrote: "I wanted to share my secret because it is a lesson to be learned."
Actress Zosia Mamet has gone public with her eating disorder troubles, confessing she "nearly died" during her youth after keeping her weight struggles under wraps for years. The Girls star, daughter of playwright David Mamet, opens up about her food hell in the September (14) issue of America's Glamour magazine, in which she has a monthly advice column.
She writes, "Do you have a secret? Is your secret something that could kill you, a silent gnawing feeling that's slowly melting you away, little by little, something deadly that nobody else can see? Mine is. And it is this: I've struggled with an eating disorder since I was a child. This struggle has been mostly a private one, a war nobody knew was raging inside me. I tried to fight it alone for a long time. And I nearly died."
Mamet reveals her battle began when she was just a kid after taking a nasty comment to heart.
She continues, "I was told I was fat for the first time when I was eight. I'm not fat; I've never been fat. But ever since then, there has been a monster in my brain that tells me I am - that convinces me my clothes don't fit or that I've eaten too much. At times it has forced me to starve myself, to run extra miles, to abuse my body."
The actress, now 26, credits her famous father for forcing her to get help during her late teens, an intervention which saved her life.
She adds, "My dad eventually got me into treatment. He came home one night from a party, took me by the shoulders, and said, 'You're not allowed to die.' It was the first time I realized this wasn't all about me. I didn't care if I died, but my family did. That's the thing about these kinds of disorders: They're consuming; they make you egocentric; they're all you can see.
"During treatment I discovered that my disorder has never really been about weight or food - that's just the way the monster manifests itself. Really these diseases are about control: control of your life and of your body."
Mamet is the latest celebrity to share her eating disorder story - singers Demi Lovato and Kesha have been open about their body issues in recent months, after each enduring stints in rehab, in a bid to help others struggling with similar problems.
"I'm not very fashionable, but I love fashion. My stripper shoes are great. They're my secret weapon. They're not so secret anymore. It means I can look Nicole Kidman in the eye. I've got two pairs of them. It's (always) the same ones." Helen Mirren loves walking tall on the red carpet.
Supermodel Miranda Kerr has reconciled with her parents after they made a public plea for her to head back to Australia following a year-long estrangement. The brunette beauty left her native country and moved to New York five years ago, and the distance between her and her folks appeared to destroying their relationship in February (14) when they filmed an emotional segment for Australian TV show Family Confidential, in which they claimed they did had not spoken to the 31 year old in over a year.
However, Kerr has now opened up about the matter, revealing she has made up with her parents and has been spending time with them since arriving Down Under for work last week (ends04May14).
She tells Channel 7's Sunrise, "I've seen my family as soon as I've arrived (sic). It's so good to spend time with them and to finally be back after a year and a half."
The former Victoria's Secret model went on to explain she doesn't feel there was "any ill intention" behind her parents' TV interview.
She continues, "That was kind of done without me knowing about it, and it's funny because I'd invited them over (to New York) many times throughout the year, and they'd been too busy.
"My dad and my brother work for me, and my mum has her own organic line now, and I think the media spun that on them - they weren't really trying to do anything, they're just a little naive, unfortunately. They got sucked into a situation and things get edited."
British model Jodie Kidd is set to marry boyfriend David Blakeley after a whirlwind romance. The blonde beauty met her ex-army soldier beau last summer (13), and in December (13), Blakeley proposed while on holiday in India.
The couple has now shared the news of their secret engagement in an interview with Hello! magazine, in which Kidd gushes, "It's absolutely brilliant. We are totally chuffed (pleased) and on cloud nine.
"David and I got on from the start and things have moved quickly. We are in love and very happy. He is an amazing man."
Blakeley adds, "I've never felt like this before. I knew it was different from the moment I met Jodie. I absolutely feel it is something extremely special and unique and irreplaceable with Jodie.
This is the first marriage for Blakeley, whose 2012 book, Pathfinder: A Special Forces Mission Behind Enemy Lines, became a best seller, and the second for Kidd, who split from internet entrepreneur Aidan Butler after an 18 months union in 2007.
She also has a two-year-old son called Indio from her previous relationship with Andrea Vianini.
On this week's Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Peralta is desperate to close an "unsolvable" case: Case 52ABX-32QJ, in which a man was murdered via an exploding boat, leaving behind only a charred finger and a melted torso for evidence. Since he and Terry were originally assigned the case eight years ago, Perlata convinces Terry to give up his weekend as well and help out. Of course, the real reason that Peralta wants to spend his weekend working is to distract himself from the fact that Santiago and her new boyfriend Teddy (Kyle Bornheimer) are taking a lovely weekend trip to the Berkshires. Well, they were, until Santiago remembered she agreed to help Captain Holt with a community organization meeting.
Meanwhile, Boyle and Vivian are still working through their move to Ottawa, which means he spends much of his workday on the phone. But since the precinct isn't a great place to have an emotional conversation — what with all of the hijinks, murder and holding cells full of perps — Diaz helps him out by introducing him to "Babylon," the secret bathroom she and Gina use as a private getaway. So, break out the Salt 'N' Pepa and your animal-covered nap blankets, because it's time to close a difficult case of our own: determining the MVP's of "Unsolvable."
Terry Jeffords It can be tough to balance being both an authority figure and one of the goofiest characters on the show, but Terry Crews always manages to find the right combination of the two. - It's not a fancy tea party without napkins in the shape of swans, and luckily, Terry is the king of origami napkins. - In a beautiful flashback, we learn that eight years ago, Terry wore Kangol hats to work, Peralta had frosted tips and Boyle had, quite possibly, the worst haircut of all time. - Peralta: "That doesn't sound good." / Terry: "I know. That's why I sad 'bad news.' Terry believes in having a clear topic sentence." - On Taylor Swift: "SHE MAKES ALL OF US FEEL THINGS!" - Peralta: "Do they run from the bulls in Pamplona?" / Terry: "Yes. That's the whole point of it." - Terry's biceps often mock people. It's a good thing to know. - Jake and Terry drunkenly dancing to "Whatta Man" is the best capper of the season. There is little in this world that is more delightful than Crews dancing, so it's no surprise that almost all of Brooklyn Nine-Nine's best music moments have come from him.
Santiago and Holt Santiago spends so much time sucking up to Holt that it was a nice change of pace to see her attempt to get out of doing something for him for a change. Melissa Fumero plays flustered beautifully, and this week she nailed every single reaction shot. And since she and Andre Braugher are always hilarious together, it's no surprise that their scenes were some of the funniest of the night. - Holt sprained his wrist hula-hooping: "Kevin and I attend a class for fitness and for fun. I've mastered all the moves: the Pizza Toss, the Tornado, the Scorpion, the Oopsie-Doodle." And the only person who knows this is Peralta, because "no one will ever believe [him]." Braugher's devious face as he deletes the photos is a thing of beauty. - Santiago, on her dental pain: "I am a rock, I am an island, I... have lapsed into song lyrics again." - Holt, giving last year's audio-visual presentation: "I... just deleted... everything." - Holt: "My brother-in-law is one of the best oral surgeons in the quint-state area." / Santaigo: "That's two better than the tri-state area." - Santiago: "I may be a liar, but I have great teeth, and no one can take that from me." / Dentist: "Have you ever heard of over-brushing?" / Santiago: "Oh, no."- After Santiago finds out she has seven cavities, Holt chides: "I have to say, I feel like you deserve this." - When asking for the following weekend off, Santiago starts with "I know this comes right on the heels of betraying you, but..." - Fumero had the night's best bit of phsyical comedy when her drink just spills down her face, since Santiago still can't feel her mouth.
Gina After a few weeks of Gina-heavy episodes, she took a backseat this week, and mostly hung around to help keep Boyle's storyline moving. Chelsea Peretti can deliver almost any line perfectly, and this week was a wonderful showcase for that talent. - After Santiago describes the activities she and Teddy have planned: "Sounds like you two have a lovely lesbian vacation planned." - On excuses for getting out of work: "Can't go wrong with dental emergency, or a death of a triplet. Now that one you can use twice." - Gina, on Babylon: "It's the best thing in my life, and I have a very full life. Do you know I know Papa John? The Papa John." / Diaz: "Someone is lying to you." - Diaz introduced Gina to Babylon after she got a stomach flu at a sewer rave. "Fun night, though." - After Holt forces Santiago into seeing a dentist, Gina rubs in her failure at lying with: "He's a good dude. He's a good, good dude." - Gina's over wolves. She's into angry unicorns now.
Scully and Hitchcock The fact that Scully and Hitchcock are only interested in being decent detectives when there's a secret bathroom involved is both hilarious and wonderfully fitting. They perfectly capped off that reveal with a one-two punch of them bullying Boyle into revealing Babylon's location, and then using their new secluded restroom to wash their clothes in the sink. It's kind of amazing that these two still have jobs considering how ridiculous they are.
Kanye West's romantic proposal to fiancee Kim Kardashian was shared with the world on Sunday (16Feb14) as it aired in an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The Stronger hitmaker popped the question to the reality TV star on her 33rd birthday in October (13), and footage of the couple's big moment was finally broadcast in America four months later.
In the episode, Kardashian's extended family, including her siblings Kourtney, Khloe, and Rob, as well as half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, were told to travel to a baseball stadium in San Francisco, California for a black-tie event with just four days' notice.
Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner was the only one who knew of West's plans, and assisted by imposing a "social media lockdown" on her family to help keep the plot secret.
Kim, who had been sick the entire day, knew even less than her loved ones, believing she was just going to spend her birthday with West at a romantic dinner.
Inside the stadium, the couple's family and friends were told to hide in the dugouts, with Kourtney saying, "She's (Kim's) just gonna die when she knows we'll all here."
West escorted his blindfolded bride-to-be to the centre of the field, only to reveal a massive orchestra playing one of her favourite songs, Lana Del Rey's Young and Beautiful.
He got down on one knee and said, "I just want to know, If you'll marry me?" as the words "Please Marry Me!!!!" flashed across the big screen.
Kim accepted, slipping the diamond ring onto her finger, before going in for a kiss from her new fiance.
Their family and friends then ran out to congratulate the couple and they celebrated with Champagne and dancing as Kim showed off her Lorraine Schwartz ring, gushing, "It's like the perfect size on my hand. It's really just the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I can't believe I'm engaged... He outdid himself. It feels like I'm in a dream. It's the surprise of a lifetime."
She added, "I'm honestly just so happy I have Kanye to share my life with and we have our family, and we're there to support each other no matter what."
