If the teaser for HBO's Doll & Em is any indication, we're in for a real treat. The six-episode comedy series premieres on Wednesday, March 19 at 10 PM ET/PT, and is co-written by its stars, Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells. Below are a few reasons why we can't wait for it to begin.
Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells
Mortimer is one of the best actresses around, and she's criminally underrated. Films like Match Point, Lovely & Amazing, and Our Idiot Brother prove that she has the comedic and dramatic chops, and she elevates HBO's The Newsroom with her performance as MacKenzie McHale. It's about time that a project revolves around her. Wells isn't as famous, but Doll & Em has the potential to make her a star.
It's on HBO
Say what you will about its competitors, but HBO still offers the best and most innovative television around. Lately, shows like Veep and Girls have been highlights, and Doll & Em looks to join them.
Unlike Girls, which centers on four 20-something New Yorkers, Doll & Em is about two 40-something Brits as they navigate show business. This is a refreshing shift, and with Mortimer and Wells at the helm, it's doubtful that the show will be as unrealistic as Sex and the City.
A new perspective on Hollywood
There have been a number of HBO series about Hollywood including Entourage and Extras, but Doll & Em looks to offer a new perspective. The actresses will be playing versions of themselves, and plenty of Hollywood movie stars will be guest starring.
Something to look forward to on Wednesday
In a brilliant programming move, HBO will air Doll & Em on Wednesday instead of Sunday. This means that we actually have a quality program to watch in the middle of the week.
Tragic actor Philip Seymour Hoffman left the bulk of his estate to his longtime partner Mimi O'donnell and requested that she bring up their eldest child in just one of three U.S. cities, including his native New York. The Capote star drew up his will in 2004, before his two youngest children were born - and his then-only son Cooper was one, and he expressed a "strong desire" to have his kid surrounded by art and culture.
In the documents, obtained by the New York Post, he wrote, "It is my strong desire... that my son, Cooper Hoffman, be raised and reside in or near the borough of Manhattan... or Chicago, Illinois, or San Francisco, California.
"The purpose of this request is so that my son will be exposed to the culture, arts and architecture that such cities offer."
The actor and O'Donnell went on to have two daughters, Tallulah, seven, and five-year-old Willa, but the will was never updated, so their names were not added to the legal documents.
O'Donnell was named the will's main beneficiary, while Hoffman also appointed her their son's guardian and trustee of a fund set up in Cooper's name to pay for his "education, support, health and maintenance".
According to the papers, filed in Manhattan Surrogate's Court on Wednesday morning (19Feb14), Cooper, now 10, will receive half of the money at the age of 25 and the remainder when he turns 30.
Hoffman's business partner, Emily Tiff, was named the executor of his estate.
The actor died from a suspected heroin overdose on 2 February (14).
British actor James Corden felt overwhelmed while filming new movie-musical Into The Woods as he was pitched against Hollywood heavyweight Meryl Streep. Corden stars as The Baker in the upcoming fantasy film, based on the Stephen Sondheim show of the same name, alongside members of Hollywood's elite including Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine and Streep.
He admits he felt starstruck on set and could not believe he had managed to land a role in such a big production.
Corden tells Britain's The Sun, "It's certainly the biggest part I've ever played. The scale of it can be quite overwhelming... I kept thinking someone was going to tap me on the shoulder and say 'I'm sorry, we made a mistake'.
"Meryl knows how you feel when you walk in a room - not in an arrogant way but she just knows. Then she does everything she can to put you at ease.
"I want to say to them (his co-stars), 'If you knew how many times I've pretended to be you in front of a mirror you'd get a court order!'"
Actress Emily Vancamp's character on popular U.S. drama series Revenge is becoming the star of a new graphic novel. Network bosses have teamed with Marvel Comics to create Revenge: The Secret Origin of Emily Thorne, a prequel to the hit TV show, in which 19-year-old Thorne is sent on her first mission as a vigilante in Switzerland. The novel will be released on 3 September (14).

During this time of year, guys everywhere start putting on their thinking caps to come up with romantic ideas to impress a woman, whether it's someone that he's just met or the person he's been married to for 20 years.
While many men struggle with the intricacies of romance, the dudes of television have a whole team of writers helping them figure things out. Thanks to those scribes, a little television watching can provide a steady stream of lessons that will help even the most clueless guy navigate the wild waters that Nathan Fillion's Rick Castle and John Krasinski's Jim Halpert have already traversed.
Let Your Partners Be Themselves (and Make a Big Deal of Their Birthdays)When your significant other is the person that the term "adorkable" was coined for, a certain amount of quirkiness is to be expected… but even if you're not dating Jess from New Girl, you have to let your lover be her or himself. Jake Johnson's Nick has grown to love Zooey Deschanel's alter ego because of her individuality. Even when he doesn’t understand what's going on entirely, he tries. After learning that Jess has always been disappointed by her big birthday expectations, Nick didn't just plan a surprise party… he rented a theater and made a movie to honor his girl. Sometimes you have to go big or go home.
Be Patient and Maybe Eventually Your Partner Will Do SomethingAfter Castle bided his time for four seasons, it was finally Beckett (Stana Katic) that made the move after she had a near death experience. Television history is littered with similar examples. Most of our favorite TV fellows have difficulty reading romantic signals — when in doubt, stand there and look stupid long enough and sooner or later they'll tell you what to do (or just do it themselves).
Don't Let Your Partner's Intellectual Superiority Intimidate YouOn Bones, David Boreanaz's Special Agent Booth is a highly accomplished FBI operative. He's a man's man and quite good looking to boot. Even with all of that, however, there's no getting around the fact that he's in love with someone who is smarter than he is. Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is too brilliant for anyone to compete with… so Booth doesn't try. He appreciates the fact that Bones is intelligent. Instead of trying to match intellects or stressing out about it, he just tries to get her to like pie. Lesson? Pick battles you might have a chance to win.
Bring Your Partner Coffee (or Some Sort of Beverage)Castle always brings Beckett coffee in the morning. Sometimes he makes her coffee. They rarely show Beckett actually drinking the coffee. For all we know she prefers tea, but Castle brings her coffee every day because it makes her smile. If you find something that makes your partner smile every day, then you keep doing it.
"You Know Nothing" Can Still Mean "I Like You"Everyone knows that adolescents sometimes act poorly towards each other in order to mask other feelings. On Game of Thrones, Rose Leslie's Ygritte's catch phrase is "You know nothing, Jon Snow." Of course, then she saved his life and seduced him. So, even in adulthood, if someone is tormenting and mocking you, it doesn't mean that she or he doesn't dig you.
Only Fools And Horses actors Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst were among the guests at the funeral of their co-star Roger Lloyd-Pack on Thursday (13Feb14). Lloyd-Pack, best known for his role as road sweeper Trigger in the British sitcom, died of pancreatic cancer last month (Jan14), aged 69.
His friends and family paid their last respects at a memorial service in London on Thursday, with guests including his former castmates Jason, Lyndhurst, Gwyneth Strong, who played Cassandra, John Challis, who played Boycie, and Sue Holderness, who played Marlene.
Actresses Miranda Richardson, Alison Steadman and Kathy Burke and former model Twiggy also joined the congregation, alongside Lloyd-Pack's daughter, A River Runs Through It star Emily Lloyd.
Lloyd-Pack's coffin arrived at St. Paul's Church in Covent Garden in a gleaming pink hearse and his wicker coffin was adorned with flowers and his trademark trilby hat.
The actor - who played Trigger from 1981 to 2003 - was also known for portraying clueless farmer Owen Newitt in British comedy The Vicar Of Dibley, as well as his role in the Harry Potter franchise.
Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has been named the Most Desirable Woman of 2014 in a new survey. The 26 year old English beauty nabbed the title in the AskMen.com poll, which was created to find the world's most in-demand females.
Community and Mad Men star Alison Brie comes in second, while model/actress Emily Ratajkowski earns a spot at number three, followed by last year's winner Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson.
Kate Upton, Kerry Washington, Amy Adams, Margot Robbie and Kate Moss all make the top 10.
Jon Snow might know nothing on Game of Thrones, but Kit Harington sure seems to know a lot about working out.
The actor that portrays Thrones' conflicted hero gets to shed the fur wraps that Snow regularly wears for the upcoming Pompeii. In the films trailers, Harington shows off a toned body that's somewhere between Russell Crowe in Gladiator and Gerald Butler in 300 ... and there's nothing wrong with that. Ygritte could sharpen her arrows on his rock-hard abs.
The movie about the ancient city that gets buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius stars Harington as a slave-turned-gladiator who's trying to rescue his one true love (Emily Browning) from the destruction… and the clutches of Kiefer Sutherland's treacherous Roman Senator.
Which is a long way of saying that there's going to be some kind of historical fiction going on while Harington races around and flexes his muscles… all in glorious 3D. We'll never look at Jon Snow the same again.
A sexy model/actress who shot to fame in Robin Thicke's racy Blurred Lines video is single after splitting from her boyfriend. Emily Ratajkowski, who danced around topless in the hit summer (13) promo, recently broke up with creative director Andrew Dryden, according to the New York Post.
