Actress Megan Hilty has become a first-time mother. The Smash star and her husband, Broadway veteran Brian Gallagher, welcomed daughter Viola Philomena in New York on Thursday (18Sep14), according to Usmagazine.com.
The couple wed last year (Nov13).
Ethan Hawke stunned actress Laura Dern at the recent Telluride Film Festival in Colorado by revealing the two are related. The Training Day star tracked down Dern and told her they were distant cousins on her mother Diane Ladd's side of the family. Ladd is related to playwright Tennessee Williams, who is Hawke's great-granduncle.
"There's been a very depressing and distressing thing that's happened in the news... Mayim Bialik from Blossom and The Big Bang Theory has come out against the movie Frozen... I feel that Frozen is the best Disney movie ever made. I've seen it 250 times. I can say it, I have every word memorised, (and) I love it like the rest of America." Outspoken comedienne and mother-of-five Rosie O'Donnell strongly disagrees with actress Mayim Bialik's heavy criticism of the Oscar-winning children's movie. Bialik took aim at the Disney film on her blog earlier this week (begs15Sep14), accusing filmmakers of setting a bad example to young girls by featuring female characters with "Barbie doll proportions".
R&B singer/songwriter and reality TV star Kandi Burruss has pulled the plug on her musical tour A Mother's Love. The Don't Think I'm Not hitmaker created the play, based on the rocky relationship between her mother and Burruss' now-husband Todd Tucker, last year (13), and debuted it in Atlanta, Georgia in November (13).
The production began touring across the U.S. earlier this month (Sep14), but it appears a problem with the show's promoters has prompted Burruss to scrap the remaining dates after completing just three gigs.
Announcing the news via a post on Instagram.com, she writes, "I licensed A Mother's Love to a promoter with high expectations of finally seeing my creation go on the road and I am very saddened and frustrated by the cancellation of the tour.
"More than that my heart goes out to the cast who all are AMAZINGLY talented. We really worked hard to put together an awesome show. It breaks my heart that we wont be able to put on this show for my fans...
"I hope you understand that the cancellation was beyond my control. Please don't hold it against me!"
Ticketholders have been offered refunds at their point of purchase.

Actress Jennifer Garner will never sign up to a social networking website as her life is too boring to bother documenting.
The Dallas Buyers Club actress is adamant she will not be joining her husband, actor Ben Affleck, on Twitter.com, and she has no intention of using photo-sharing website Instagram either. Garner insists her stance has nothing to do with privacy issues or fears she will be hacked - she simply has nothing interesting to tell her online fans.
The mother-of-three tells People magazine, "I have a couple of reasons. One, I don't want any more guilt coming from my phone or computer. I have the hardest time answering emails, anyway, so the last thing I want to feel is indebted to my phone or computer. So it's time. And the other is, what would I Instagram that people would want to see (sic)? There is nothing I would put out that people would want to see. It's probably best to stay away. They don't want to see me and my mom friends after kindergarten drop-off."
The Black Keys star Dan Auerbach used new album Turn Blue as a form of therapy after his marriage to Stephanie Gonis collapsed. Auerbach went through a very nasty and public divorce in 2013 with his wife of four years and mother of his daughter, Sadie.
Gonis accused him of pushing her to self harming and he hit back by insisting she tried to commit suicide by slashing her legs in front of their child.
Now the musician has revealed he managed to overcome the pain of the split by writing tracks for his new record.
Auerbach tells the Brisbane Times, "Usually when I sit down with a song I can write about whatever I want. I can make things up, I can tell a story, I can be creative, there are no rules. But with this one my head was just so wrapped up in what was going on in my life immediately around me that I couldn't focus on anything else.
"I had to write about what was going on in my head. I used this record as a form of therapy, but that was also unavoidable. It wasn't like I could do something else, or write about something else, it was almost a necessity."
Ryan Adams thrilled the crowd at his London show on Thursday night (18Sep14) by rocking out with Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp. The rocker has collaborated with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor on a new track called Aching For More, which appears as a B-side to his latest single Gimme Something Good, and they took to the stage together at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in the British capital.
Depp appeared with Adams for the encore performance, covering Mother by heavy metal band Danzig and the star's own song Kim.
The guitar-playing actor has appeared on stage with numerous music acts over the years, and recently performed with Aerosmith at a gig in Massachusetts.
"You know what works really well to get followers? Topless pics." Actor Neil Patrick Harris shares his tips on how to gain more followers on Twitter. The former How I Met Your Mother star has 10 million fans on the microblogging site.
Sir Elton John left guests in "disbelief" by putting in an unannounced performance at Neil Patrick Harris' recent nuptials. The former How I Met Your Mother star wed longtime partner David Burtka in a castle in Perugia, Italy earlier this month (06-07Sep14), and among those present for the intimate ceremony was the legendary singer, who is close friends with the newlyweds.
During an interview with U.S. TV personality Meredith Vieira on her talk show on Thursday (18Sep14), Harris revealed that John was never meant to be the main attraction during their reception.
Harris explained, "He and (husband) David (Furnish) and their kids were coming as guests. And there was a piano player that was playing anyways, so I said, 'Would you want to just go up and play one song at some time?' And he said, 'Sure.'
"It turned into a much more involved thing - he sang three different songs. We kept it a secret so everyone that was there was just slackjawed in disbelief that Elton John was singing in a castle."
Harris described his big day as "fairy tale-ic", and that the ceremony turned out to be a much bigger to do than expected.
He added, "It wasn't super intentional. We wanted to have a destination wedding, so it eliminated having to invite hundreds of people... All of a sudden it turned into this really beautiful 50 person small intimate (ceremony)."

This Is Where I Leave You doesn’t get a lot right about grief, marriage, love, relationships, parenthood, infidelity, masculinity, depression, alcoholism, human reproduction, homosexuality, Oedipal complexes, Judaism, sibling rivalry, marijuana use, brain injuries, ice skating, or how human beings speak to one another. But, you know, it’s cute.
Though they’re given little more to do than alternate weepy existential soliloquys with jokes about masturbation (there are a lot of jokes about masturbation in this movie, or at least a lot more jokes about masturbation than most movies targeted to my mother’s demographic seem to have), the Altman siblings are hardly a chore to watch as they banter and bicker their way through a weeklong mourning ritual (and neatly packaged “side problems”) following the death of their father.
As Judd (wife cheated on him) Jason Bateman is essentially fine. As lone sister Wendy (husband’s a douche/old lover right across the street), Tina Fey is more than not inviting. As youngest brother Phillip (can’t get his act together), Adam Driver is a cast standout. Corey Stoll, you might have heard, is also in this movie as oldest child Paul (can’t conceive a child). But just barely, showing up every so often for the sole purpose of reminding everyone just how little these would-be siblings look like each other.

A few sweet moments are managed — more often than not involving the dynamic Driver and one of his disapproving elders — though never impressively, settling predominantly for Vanilla Sky-inspired maxims and scenes of contemplative driving. A few good jokes land — again, usually via Driver — though never uproariously. And with takeaway messages peaking at innocuous, there’s really nothing to be gained from a viewing of Shawn Levy’s dramedy adaptation.
But, somehow — thanks to the good graces of Fey’s aptitude for sisterly sardonicism and Driver’s animalistic likability — it manages a competent dose of cute. Sweet. Nice. This Is Where I Leave You has nothing — or close to it — to offer, but it’s hardly a joyless ride.
