Hollywood actress Selma Blair has issued a warning to fans after hackers attempted to dupe her into revealing her online passwords. The Cruel Intentions star went online on Tuesday (23Sep14) to share a screenshot of a suspicious text message she received which suggested she needed to update her Apple security settings by replying with her passcode to verify her account.
Blair re-posted the message as a warning to fans with the caption, "I think we know how this ends. No thanks."
The security scare comes amid a wave of Hollywood hackings which have led to nude pictures of stars including Jennifer Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst, Scarlett Johansson and Amber Heard leaking online.
Blair's post prompted a light-hearted response from her longtime friend and Cruel Intentions co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar, who joked, "Time to erase all those 'art' nudes you are always sending me."
British musician Jake Bugg fears he can never return to live in his hometown as he would be targeted by violent robbers. The Lightning Bolt hitmaker grew up in Nottingham, England but admits he has been to living out of suitcases in hotel rooms since shooting to fame in 2011.
Despite having his eye on buying a permanent base, the singer is adamant he would not feel safe living in his hometown as musicians are not offered the security available to other stars.
He tells Britain's The Sunday Times Magazine, "I'd like to (settle in Nottingham), but I just couldn't. I was looking at one place in Clifton Village, a really nice area next to the estate, but you'd just get people trying to rob your house and s**t like that. If you're a footballer, you have to live locally, but you have security from the club, a gated house, the driver will take you from the gated house to the safely gated training ground - and you don't have that in the music world."
Rapper Yg has blamed Los Angeles police officials for allegedly banning him from supporting Drake and Lil Wayne on their local tour stop this weekend (20-21Sep14). The I Just Wanna Party hitmaker took to his Twitter.com blog on Friday (19Sep14) and told fans he was having to bow out of plans to perform in Irvine, California that night and at the Hollywood Bowl on Monday (22Sep14).
He wrote, "Irvine/Hollywood , the LAPD ain't (sic) letting me perform at the #DrakeVsWayne dates today and Monday."
A representative for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has yet to comment on the report, but sources tell MTV.com that local authorities were concerned about trouble erupting at the shows and ordered the tour promoter to add extra security if they wanted YG to perform.
The additional police presence would have allegedly cost the promoter an extra $120,000 (£75,000).
Drake's new protege, singer iLoveMakonnen, was recruited to perform in YG's place on Friday and will hit the stage again on Monday night.
Los Angeles native YG has been open about his affiliation to the local Bloods gang and previously hit headlines in 2012 after shots were fired on the set of his video for I'm a Thug.
More recently, YG had to cut short a concert in Canada in early August (14) after crowdmembers became unruly and began hurling bottles at the stage.
"Anybody who takes inappropriate pictures of themselves deserves exactly what they get... And it's unfortunate that we don't have Internet security right now or the laws in place to protect people from pirating that stuff." A Massachusetts woman who threatened to torture and blow up actor Kevin Spacey has been sentenced to more than four years behind bars. Linda Louise Culkin began terrorising the Oscar winner in 2009, when she sent a bomb threat to his Los Angeles office, leaving the American Beauty star shaken.
Prosecutors in Boston claimed she subsequently launched a "persistent and malevolent" cyberstalking campaign against the actor, warning her Twitter.com followers that a gunman would "put a bullet in K.S.'s brain and then commit suicide" and claimed Spacey "would be disemboweled".
Culkin pleaded guilty to charges of mailing threatening communications and sending threats and false information regarding explosives last November (13), and on Wednesday (17Sep14), the 55 year old, who has been in jail since January, 2012, was sentenced.
She will have to spend the next 18 months behind bars after she was given credit for time served.
The judge overseeing the case also ordered Culkin to hand over $124,000 (£77,500) in restitution to Spacey to cover the costs of the extra security he had hired for his protection.
During the hearing, Culkin apologised for her behaviour and blamed mental illness for her actions.
Spacey was not in court for sentencing, but issued a statement following the ruling, insisting it was "difficult to measure the degree of terror" he had felt.
He had previously written to the judge, urging the official to ensure Culkin received the mental health treatment she needed, stating, "The only way I am going to achieve a true state of safety is for the defendant to remain in custody and undertake intense psychiatric treatment."
Ben Affleck has opened up about his card counting scandal, insisting he has nothing to be ashamed of. Bosses at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas asked the Argo star to leave their resort in April (14) after they spotted him counting cards at a blackjack table.
Security officials were quick to dismiss reports suggesting the movie star had been banned from the venue, insisting Affleck was "a valued guest" who is "welcome back any time".
The Oscar winner has now spoken out about the story in the new issue of Details magazine, confirming reports he was asked to step away from the table during a successful night of gambling.
He says, "That is a true story. I mean, that took place. I took some time to learn the game and became a decent blackjack player. And once I became decent, the casinos asked me not to play blackjack. I mean, the fact that being good at the game is against the rules at the casinos should tell you something about casinos.
"There's a lot of hospitality, backslapping, when they think you're gonna come in and dump money, and if they think you might leave with some money, it's like, 'You know what? Why don't you try craps or roulette?'"
A security guard on the set of Steven Spielberg and Noah Wyle's TV drama Falling Skies has been killed after he was hit by a runaway truck. The unidentified man lost his life after he was pinned between the truck and a tree on Monday night (15Sep14).
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter the fatal incident took place just outside Vancouver, Canada.
Filming on the TV series has been halted as local police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigate the incident.
Barbra Streisand has opened up about her 27-year absence from the stage, confessing she shied away from the concert spotlight after becoming the target of a cultural backlash following her interracial kiss with Egyptian actor Omar Sharif in Funny Girl.
The Evergreen hitmaker famously forgot the lyrics to a number of songs during her big show in New York's Central Park in 1966, prompting her to take an extended hiatus from live public performances until announcing plans for her comeback in 1994. She has now blamed the embarrassing show mishap on the pressures of international fame and her concerns for her own safety after the fall-out from the release of a publicity photo for Funny Girl, which featured the Jewish star locking lips with Sharif as tensions heightened between Israel and its neighbouring Islamic states in the lead up to 1967's Six-Day War.
Her fears were compounded by the fact that New York Police Department bosses had to pull the majority of cops serving as security at the gig at the last minute due to a state visit by Soviet Union politician Alexei Kosygin.
She explains, "I was doing a concert in Central Park in front of a 150,000 people sitting on the grass. I was making Funny Girl at the time, and it was during a war, and Omar Sharif's movies were banned because he was kissing me. "So I was scared... Then we were supposed to have 300 guys (police officers at the concert) and some big Russian guy... Kosygin, I think, came to town and they took 270 cops away, so we had 30 cops and it was scary, put it that way. "So I forgot words to three of my songs and I wasn't cute about it, I was not charming. I totally spaced out... It's show business. Aren't you supposed to be cute and hum? Nothing... And so I didn't sing again for 27 years."
A builder working on a construction site horrified star guests at a London Fashion Week show on Tuesday (16Sep14) when he plunged through a glass roof. The accident happened during a Fashion East event at a Topshop Show Space in the city, and attendees including former MTV presenter Alexa Chung and pop star Pixie Lott were left shocked by the incident.
Eyewitnesses report the victim toppled through a corrugated plastic roof panel and bounced off a large metal pipe before plummeting 50 feet (15.3 metres) and landing on his back.
Paramedics were called and the man, who has not been named, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
A witness tells Britain's Daily Telegraph, "At first there was confusion, we thought it was a light falling over. Then security men started running backstage and there was loud shouting. The weird thing was that the show just carried on. The whole audience was totally bewildered."
A spokesman tells Vogue, "The way that the Topshop space is built, the walls that separate the catwalk and audience space from backstage don't go all the way to the ceiling, so people could see that something had happened, but it did not in any way endanger the audience. It didn't happen above people's heads and there was no one in the space where he fell."
Singer August Alsina collapsed during a sold-out concert in New York City on Monday (15Sept14). The No Love singer was performing at The Irving Plaza venue in Manhattan when he stumbled off the stage and fell into the audience. Security guards rushed to pick the star up and carry him backstage.
Witnesses tells TMZ that Alsina was carried out of the venue on a stretcher but was well enough to wave goodbye to his worried fans. Videos of the dramatic fall have since appeared on Instagram and Youtube.
Monday's gig was part of his Testimony Live tour. It is not known if the remaining tour dates will go ahead.
