Berry Gordy Jr. is suing Edward Holland Jr. of the Holland-Dozier-Holland songwriting trio in a feud that goes back 30 years. Gordy is suing for malicious prosecution, Variety writes. Holland has sued Gordy a number of times dating back to 1968. The H-D-H suits all revolve around Gordy’s alleged coercion, including forcing H-D-H to give up rights to their songs, forging signatures and cheating them out of royalties. Holland followed up the 1968 lawsuit with a suit in 1988 and another in 1992, all with the same claims. The 1988 suit was dismissed last year.
Gordy’s counter-suit doesn’t demand specific damages, but according to the report, sources claim that Berry spent $2 million in legal fees.
