Comedian Seth Meyers has been tapped to host the 2014 Emmy Awards this summer (14). Just months after kicking off his own U.S. late night talk show, the former Saturday Night Live star has more to celebrate as he was chosen to serve as presenter for the annual television prizegiving on Thursday (24Apr14).
This marks Meyers' first time as host of the Emmys, but he has previously compered the 2010 and 2011 ESPY Awards and the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner. Meyers, who was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people on Thursday morning, follows in the footsteps of fellow comedians and former Late Night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Conan O'Brien, who have previously hosted the Emmys.
The 66th Primetime Emmys will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on 25 August (14).
Already parents to three boys (Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 8 1/2, and Cruz, 6 1/2), David and Victoria Beckham were understandably "over the moon" when their first daughter, Harper Seven, was born on July 10th in Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Hospital. And now that Victoria has finally had her first chance to dress her baby girl up in only the most luxurious and elegant attire, it seems like she's having so much fun that she's realized she doesn't want to be able to dress just one of her children nicely. So just two weeks after giving birth, the Beckhams have already decided they'd like to have one more child.
In a video from the Associate Press, David Beckham revealed that he and Victoria have always wanted a big family, and that five children was always a number they had in the back of their minds. And because his sons reacted so positively to the family's newest addition (he said "all the boys won't leave [Harper Seven] alone, which is amazing,"), he's pretty sure they're going to try and have another baby. Hopefully he/she will have Victoria's nose, too.
Jonah Hill trades in Super-Bad for Super-Skinny! The actor walked the red carpet at the ESPY Awards in L.A. on Wednesday night and boy did he turn heads. Apparently the star has been slimming down for months in preparation for his role in action flick 21 Jump Street and it's been estimated that in total he has lost about 40 pounds. What's his weight loss secret? A source claims that in the spring Hill "went on a diet for the movie, but gained weight at first! Finally, he got a nutritionist and a trainer." We were shown a glimpse of this slimmer side of Jonah back at an event in March, but even just 4 months later you can see a drastic difference. Check it out!
The Knocked Up actor comments about getting fit saying, "It's not fun..."I wouldn't say it's the most fun endeavor I've ever took on in my life — but it's important. And I'm enjoying it. If I eat something unhealthy now, I kind of feel a little weird and my body hurts." Well keep up the great work - you look wonderful. Just as long as your humor hasn't gone down with your pants size.
The once-chubby star hit the red carpet looking slender, wowing reporters and bystanders who didn't recognise the new-look writer/actor.
Asked what inspired the transformation, Hill said, "I just went to see a nutritionist and I wanted to be healthier. I started running and stuff."
Dewey Bozella was incarcerated for over three decades for a murder he did not commit. He was released in 2000 and was handed the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the annual sports prizegiving in Los Angeles after turning his bitterness into a love for boxing and a desire to help troubled youngsters avoid jail.
Accepting his award at the glitzy gala, Bozella revealed the New York boxing gym he had been training and teaching at had recently closed down - and now he was determined to open his own place, but he needed help.
Touched by his story and his acceptance speech, Moore took to Twitter.com and wrote, "The true hero of tonight's Espy awards Dewey Bozella. pls (please) send me any info on how 2 (sic) keep his dream alive of having his boxing studio 4 (sic) kids."
Captain America, a.k.a. Chris Evans, stopped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to promote his new movie, but who wants to hear about that? I didn't think so. I know what you want and that's a video of Evans failing miserably at beer pong. Dude, even Betty White brought more game than Captain America. Step it up, Evans.
Tom Felton stopped by Late Night With David Letterman to promote his new rap album -- oh wait, he's not doing that? Damnit. He stopped by Letterman to not speak at all while Regis Philbin offered to take him to Montana and hijacked his interview. This feels like a conversation with two old guys on a train that you just can't escape. Enjoy the awkwardness.
The infinitely charming Seth Meyers chatted with Jay Leno about hosting the ESPY awards, but first he needed to prove his worth as a sports fan. He's been to a Cubs game, woo! The folks at Wrigley Field asked him to sing "Take Me Out to The Ball Game" and apparently it was a very trying experience.
Finally, apparently Kid Rock is still around. And it seems he's less of a badass and more of a philanthropist? This Daily Show interview is our proof, I know you'll need it.

Justin Timberlake was chosen to hand out the Capital One Cup at the ESPY Awards on July 13th, which I'm told is something really special that is awarded to the top women's and men's Division I college athletic programs in the country. Anyway, so Justin Timberlake felt he had to prepare for the event (which is curious, because appearing as a marionette in the Bye Bye Bye video looked like it required some degree of physical prowess), and so he joined a few sports teams at various colleges so he could understand how much hard work it takes to win such an award. And it turns out, he wasn't very good at any of them! But none of expected him to be, really. He could've probably afforded to lay off the Omletville.
Hey, entertainment news readers! You probably didn't hear because, like us, you were reading about Justin Bieber's newest lesbian hair cut rather than watching ESPN (because sports are stoooopid, amirite?!). Anyway, yesterday, Carmelo Anthony got traded to Knicks.
In the sports world, this is something that makes people say, "Holy shit!" (Imagine if Francis Ford Coppola announced a new film starring Marlon Brando -- performing from the grave!) So, why are we writing about this? Well, VH1 -- being the music-focused network that they are -- decided that this was the perfect opportunity for a reality show sequel to Anthony's and wife, La La Vasquez's first reality show about their wedding, La La's Full Court Wedding.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network will broadcast a 10-episode series that will chronicle Anthony and La La's move from Denver, where he played for the Nuggets, to Manhattan, where he'll play for the Knicks. The show began shooting last month, and will begin airing in August. It's tentatively titled La La's Full Court.
And, oh yeah, if you didn't know, 'Melo plays basketball -- that sport with the orange ball and a hoop where they, like, guard each other or something.
