Jenny McCarthy is leaving U.S. daytime talk show The View after less than a year on the panel. The blonde bombshell joined the long-running chat series last September (14), but has decided to walk away just nine months into the job after her co-anchor Sherri Shepherd announced she was leaving.
Shepherd confirmed her exit on Thursday night (26Jun14), saying in a statement, "It's been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and (executive producer) Bill Geddie for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey."
McCarthy then took to Twitter.com to tell her followers she is also leaving the programme. She writes, "If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters... My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."

A statement from bosses at U.S. network ABC confirmed their departures: "The View will be moving in an exciting new direction next season and ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively."
The pair's exit comes months after creator and executive producer Walters retired in April (14). She launched the Emmy-winning show in 1997.
Actress/comedienne Whoopi Goldberg will be the show's only returning host when the programme comes back for its 18th season this autumn (14).

Tina Fey, Nick Jonas, and Shailene Woodley are all keeping busy on sets this week. Find out exactly what and where they're filming below:
If you're in downtown Atlanta this week, make sure you look up. Crews have been busy rigging zip lines on rooftops all over downtown, including the top of the Peachtree Center, for the movie Insurgent. On Friday, stuntmen were seen testing the rigs so we can only assume filming will take place this week. The Divergent sequel, which stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, and Ansel Elgort, hits theaters March 20, 2015.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are teaming up again this summer for The Nest. The comedy duo is also back in New York for the movie about two sisters who go home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell their house. It was also just announced Maya Rudolph has joined the cast making it a true SNL reunion! Today, you can find the ladies are filming off of Mamaroneck Ave in White Plains, N.Y.
Nick Jonas is returning to the small screen this fall for Navy St. The DirecTV series centers on a mixed martial arts gym in Venice, Calif. run by Alvey Henderson (Frank Grillo), whose drug addiction kept him from making it big as a fighter. Jonas plays his youngest son. Navy St. has been filming at the Nelles Correctional Facility in Whittier, Calif. for several weeks. Nelles was also the primary filming location for Kristen Stewart's latest movie, Camp X-Ray.

Kim Kardashian's siblings Kendall and Kylie Jenner are branching into literature - they have penned their debut novel. The reality TV stars have landed a book deal with publishers Simon and Schuster for their first fictional work, entitled Rebels: City of Indra: The Story of Lex and Livia.
The book tells the tale of two girls living in a dystopian city, and the sisters, the daughters of former Olympian Bruce Jenner, headed for the Barnes and Noble bookstore in Los Angeles on Thursday (12Jun14) to promote their work.
However, their story isn't proving a big hit with fans - several readers have taken to Amazon.com to complain that the book is "garbage" and "laughable", with one buyer adding, "The trees that died to make the paper for this book would have been better off as toilet paper."
The Kinks rocker Ray Davies was forced to miss his induction into America's Songwriters Hall of Fame on Thursday (12Jun14) following the death of his sister. The musician was one of the big names selected by museum officials in May (14) but he skipped the ceremony in New York City after his sibling Joyce passed away.
The Waterloo Sunset hitmaker accepted the honour via video, and he also took to Facebook.com to write, "I am profoundly honoured to have been inducted into the American Songwriters Hall of Fame and disappointed not to have been at the event in New York but I felt it necessary to be near my family at this sad time of my sisters (sic) funeral.
"I wish to thank everyone at the Songwriters Hall of Fame who voted for me and give a special thanks to all the loyal Kinks fans who have stood by us all these years. I hope to repay such loyal support by trying my best to continue to write songs in the future that are worthy of such an accolade."
Jon Bon Jovi was on hand to pay tribute to Davies at the ceremony, performing his hits You Really Got Me and All Day and All of the Night at the end of the show.
Other acts honoured included Scottish singer Donovan, Graham Gouldman of the band 10cc, singer/songwriter Mark James, who penned Elvis Presley's Suspicious Minds, and Jim Weatherly, who is known for writing Gladys Knight & The Pips hits Neither One of Us and Midnight Train to Georgia.
Performers such as Miguel, Chita Rivera, Chubby Checker and Jackie Evancho also took to the stage at the event.
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian kicked off the celebrations ahead of her wedding to Kanye West by gathering her female friends and family members for a special bachelorette party in Paris, France on Thursday night (22May14). The socialite is preparing to marry her rapper fiance in Europe on Saturday (24May14), and she has been joined in the French capital by her loved ones, including her mother Kris Jenner and sisters Khloe and Kourtney, in the run up to the big day.
Kardashian took to Twitter.com on Thursday night to share pictures of her "last supper", a gathering of her female friends and family members at a restaurant in the city, writing, "I'm so lucky! I have the best friends in the whole wide world! #ParisNights #LastSupper."
During the evening, the group also visited some of the city's most famous landmarks. They were pictured in front of Le Louvre gallery's famous glass pyramid and at the Eiffel Tower, where several members of the Kardashian clan were snapped riding the iconic carousel close to the landmark.
After the night out, Kardashian paid tribute to her pals, writing, "No matter what these girls are always there!"
Speculation is rife over where the brunette beauty will exchange vows with West - many reports point towards Paris as the location for the nuptials, while the couple is also rumoured to have hired out a historic venue in Florence, Italy.
This week's episode of Real Housewives of New York is all about communication, or lack thereof. Everyone is on the outs with Ramona Singer, a.k.a. Eyelander, last living original housewife. She left the Berkshires under the pretense of having a repressed memory episode of hysterics. Instead, she went to a party held by Molly Sims, who hadn’t been mentioned on television this much in years. Ramona is a big fan of communi-hating — it’s like communicating, except you just yell at people and don’t listen to what they have to say. She seems to have a screw loose. Even with the occasional pretense, everyone on New York seems authentic, without pushing for a “storyline.” Instead, they just seems to be acting like themselves.
Nothing tops off a night of binge-drinking better than early morning yoga. After drunkenly plotting revenge against Ramona, all the ladies are looking a little rough. Sonja Morgan, a.k.a. In-the-Red Sonja, Warrior of Booze, laughs as she has trouble doing yoga without passing wind. Meanwhile, Kristen Taekman is the only one who is halfway functional. Is it her youth or is her liver the most effective at removing toxins from her body?
LuAnn & Carole: Sisters in Drag
Carole Radziwill is being photographed for a magazine. She is getting deluxe make-up contouring on her face which is pretty intense for a biological woman. She calls her pal LuAnn "Desperate" Lesseps to join her because she has a piece about manners she hasn’t written. Once again, a cool girl (Carole dated George Clooney) takes advantage of an outcast. Is it okay for a writer to take ideas from a fellow author? Also, she weirdly reads out her own by-line. Meanwhile, didn’t she get miffed when LuAnn asked her friend to borrow a dress? LuAnn and her boyfriend Jacques fix up Carole with actor Nick Gregory. You might remember him from… something? But sadly, Carole acts awkwardly and asks inappropriate questions embarrassing this attractive guy in a TV credit for his reel. She asks his age, tells him she’s going to play matchmaker, and then talks about him like he isn’t there.
The Ramona Coaster Off the Rails
Heather Thomson masterminds a confrontation with Ramona. This is after taking a second to randomly grab Kristen’s son’s ice cream cone to take a lick. The girls decide to sit in a circular table to keep Ramona from escaping. LuAnn, well versed in Passive Aggressive English, broaches the topic heavy-handedly. Everyone starts yelling at once in a cacophony of wailing. No, they are not trying to lure the Hydra from his lair, they just want Ramona to understand she’s rude. But Ramona has been rewarded for rudeness since her first day on television. In the end, Sonja is making no sense and Carole is making genius barbs under her breath.
Kristen vs. Her Husband Josh
Kristen and Josh Taekman get into a passive aggressive fight during their daughter Kingsley’s physical therapy. The sad part is that they clearly don’t listen to each other. Their daughter is struggling with an inability to walk and they are fighting in front of the woman trying to help her. Little do they know, their physical therapist had to hug her cat Kitty Ruxpin all night while swearing off all men just to get to sleep. Josh is insensitive by taking calls and emails the whole time. Kristen, meanwhile, is needlessly aggressive in front of a stranger, and all of America. She also doesn’t understand the demands of his job. They need a mediator, stat.
Ramona vs. Kristen: Round Deux
Ramona is suddenly repentant about what happened with Kristen… to everyone but Kristen. She has a work out complete with a bottle of wine. Her husband, Mario Singer shows up to discuss the drama. Do they not realize this seems so staged? She invites Kristen to tea to apologize. However, Kristen is justifiably angry. Not pressing charges or fighting back left Kristen with some displaced anger. She’s wants an answer for “Why?” Ramona seems subdued and not as hopped up as she normally is. Kristen asks Ramona if it’s an alcohol or anger management issue. These strike a nerve and Ramona tries to make an exit. Then, like no one before her, Kristen points out how crazy Ramona acts and how she’s always in a rush.
Real Houselines of New York
"Oh God! Her face is banged up." – Sonja upon seeing LuAnn in the morning
"I had a leash on and you were whipping me last night." – Sonja possibly reporting what happened
"I don’t want to be cut. I’d rather be cut with my body than cut with a knife." – Ramona unaware there’s other choices
"I chose to sit to the right of Ramona because I’m like a linebacker from the 49ers. There was no way she was getting up." – LuAnn about her size?
"Who gives a s**t about Molly Sims?" – Ramona
"You need as Swiss team of doctors." – Carole on Ramona’s therapy needs
"To a woman who wrote The Widow’s Guide to Sex & Dating. You’d think she’d be better at this." – LuAnn on Carole
New York jeweller Mr. Flawless has dismissed reports suggesting Jay Z and his sister-in-law Solange were shopping at his store days after video footage of them allegedly fighting in an elevator surfaced. Beyonce's husband and sister hit headlines on Monday (12May14) when surveillance video footage from inside an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York City appeared to show Solange hitting and kicking the 99 Problems hitmaker as they left a Met Gala afterparty on 5 May (14).
On Tuesday (13May14), editors at TMZ.com reported the rapper and his sister-in-law had been spotted perusing high-end jewellery at Mr. Flawless, but the jeweller has now spoken to U.S. talk show host Wendy Williams to clear up the rumours.
She says, "We call Mr. Flawless and he says, 'No, Solange and Jay Z were not here checking out jewellery'..."
The parties have not spoken out about the incident, but on Tuesday Solange reportedly deleted photos of herself with sister Beyonce from her Instagram.com account, while the Crazy in Love hitmaker moved to end reports of a feud on Wednesday (14May14) by posting four candid snaps of the sisters having fun in the past.
Meanwhile, Beyonce and Jay Z put on a united front on Monday night by sitting courtside at a basketball game between the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat in New York.
Beyonce has shown her support for sister Solange Knowles following her now notorious bust-up with Jay Z by posting pictures of the pair posing happily on her Instagram.com page.
The famous family hit headlines on Monday (12May14) when surveillance video from an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York City appeared to show Solange hitting and kicking the 99 Problems hitmaker as they left an afterparty following the Met Gala on 5 May (14). The clip apparently shows Beyonce calmly watching the furore, before stepping between the pair.
Speculation has been rife about what prompted the outburst, with some reports suggesting there is now a rift between the sisters after Solange deleted all pictures of Beyonce from her Instagram page on Tuesday (13May14). However, the Crazy in Love hitmaker moved to end reports of a feud on Wednesday (14May14) by posting four candid snaps of the sisters having fun in the past.
One shot shows the pair sitting in the back of a vehicle, in another they are kicking their legs in the air in a field, and a third features them hugging onstage at the Coachella music festival in California last month (Apr14). Beyonce and Jay Z put on a united front on Monday night by sitting courtside at a basketball game between the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat in New York.
Solange has reportedly deleted photos of herself with sister Beyonce from her Instagram.com account a day after a video, in which the singer appeared to attack her brother-in-law Jay Z in an elevator, surfaced online.
The couple and the 27 year old hit the headlines on Monday (12May14) when surveillance video from an elevator at the Standard Hotel appeared to show Solange slapping and kicking the 99 Problems hitmaker, as Beyonce watched and then stepped between her sister and her husband. The Knowles sisters and Jay Z have yet to comment about the altercation, but on Tuesday (13May14), Solange removed all but one of her family snapshots with her big sister from Instagram.
In the remaining picture from over a year ago, the sisters are photographed with a friend, with the caption reading, "Girls moment." The reason for the removal of the pictures remains unclear, but reports indicate the sisters attended former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland's rumoured wedding in Costa Rica on Friday (09May14).
Meanwhile, Jay Z and Beyonce put on a united front on Monday at a basketball play-off game between the Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets, during which they were snapped laughing and embracing each other.

Anyone alive in 1984 — and many that weren't — can instantly recognize the synthesizer strains of Beverly Hills Cop's theme song "Axel F." Eddie Murphy's blockbuster comedy topped Ghostbusters and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom to be the year's top grossing movie. With talk that another sequel to the film is in the works, it's time to look back at what made the original such a smash. You might be able to hum along with the theme, but here are some fun facts that you might not know.
1. Sylvester Stallone was set to play Axel Foley right up until two weeks before filming was to begin, causing the production team to rewrite on the fly in order for Murphy to step into the role.
2. When director Martin Brest was offered the job by producer Jerry Bruckheimer he was lukewarm on the project, so he flipped a coin to decide whether or not to do it. When the film became a huge success, Brest had the quarter that he used framed.
3. Judge Reinhold and John Ashton did an improv bit during their joint audition that ended up in the movie. It's the scene in the film where Reinhold's Rosemont tells Ashton's Taggart that the average American has "five pounds of undigested red meat in his bowels."
4. The script bounced around Hollywood for a long time and was originally a more traditional, tense actioner. Among the directors that turned down the more serious script were Martin Scorsese and David Cronenberg. Before Stallone, Mickey Rourke, Al Pacino, and James Caan were each attached to the Axel role at various times.
5. Even though Reinhold was only two years removed from playing a high school senior in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, the actor is four years older than Murphy, who was only 23-years-old when Beverly Hills Cop was released.
6. The T-shirt that Murphy wears in the film is from a real Detroit area high school (Mumford), which was inundated with requests for the shirt. The section of the movie filmed in Detroit also featured Gil Hill, who actually did work for the city police department, as Murphy's boss. Hill went on to be a city councilman in the Motor City.
7. The Beverly Hills police in the movie use something called a "satellite tracking system," which the film team made up as a way to get around a sticky plot issue. The government's first GPS didn’t become fully operational until 1995… 11 years after Beverly Hills Cop.
8. Harold Faltermeyer, who scored a Top 10 hit with the instrumental "Axel F," also wrote Glenn Frey's Top 10 hit from the soundtrack, "The Heat Is On." The movie produced two other hits in The Pointer Sisters' "Neutron Dance" and Patti LaBelle's "New Attitude."
9. Originally, the art museum where Axel goes to find his friend Jenny once he gets to Los Angeles was supposed to have two men working in it. When Bronson Pinchot — who would later star in the television show Perfect Strangers — auditioned with the weird Eastern European accent that his character Serge affects, Brest made the role bigger to allow more interaction between Pinchot and Murphy. The character was such a hit that Pinchot's sitcom character used a variation of the same accent.
10. Stallone retained his affinity for the original script. His film Cobra was largely based on the ideas that he had for Beverly Hills Cop. That film, along with Beverly Hills Cop 2, co-starred Stallone's one-time wife Brigitte Nielsen.
11. The film was the first comedy to open on over 2,000 screens upon its release. Its success helped set the stage for the "wide openings" that became the norm in later years.
12. The movie was the highest grossing R-rated comedy of all-time until The Hangover finally knocked it from its perch. It made over $230 million at the box office in the United States. Adjusted for inflation, however, that would translate to over $650 million now.
