Rapper Da Brat has opened up about her close friend Mariah Carey's previous marriage to music executive Tommy Mottola, claiming the singer was constantly monitored by cameras at the couple's lavish home. The Funkdafied hitmaker first met the Hero superstar while working on the remix to Carey's hit Always Be My Baby in 1995, and they have collaborated on numerous tracks ever since.
Da Brat has now recalled her first meeting with Carey to Billboard magazine, revealing she immediately felt a connection with her.
She recalls, "I felt like she was just like me, but she had to keep it shielded. She wanted to do the things I did and talk the way I talked. She was signed to Sony and had this reputation to uphold of being a diva. That's why we jelled. She was living through me and we became the best of friends. We're both Aries and both like to have fun that's why we say we're 'eternally 12', because we're kids."
Da Brat was by Carey's side during some of the more trying times in her life, including the rise and fall of her five-year marriage to Columbia Records executive Mottola, which ultimately ended in divorce in 1998.
Da Brat divulges, "She was so down to earth, but her circumstances didn't allow her to do things. We'd be in the studio at Tommy Mottola's house and she'd whisper because cameras were everywhere. It's like she was trapped. I had never seen someone have everything, but be so unhappy inside because they couldn't be themselves."
Carey went on to marry comedian/actor Nick Cannon in 2008, and welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan in 2011.
Bryan Ferry's divorce moved one step closer to finalisation after it was approved by a judge in London on Friday (07Mar14). The former Roxy Music star split from his second wife, Amanda Sheppard, in 2013 after less than two years of marriage and their divorce petition was heard at London's High Court on Friday.
A judge granted the former couple a decree nisi. They must now wait six weeks for the marriage to be officially dissolved.
Court paperwork has revealed Sheppard, 31, blamed Ferry's "continuing unreasonable behaviour" for the split.
Ferry, 68, wed the former public relations worker in Turks and Caicos in 2011. He was previously married to Lucy Helmore from 1982 until their divorce in 2003.
Country music star Sara Evans has put herself forward for the next season of hit U.S. reality show Dancing With The Stars after previously bowing out of the competition due to personal troubles. The singer signed on to star in the 2006 run of the programme but decided to quit mid-way through the third season as she struggled through a difficult divorce from the father of her three children.
However, Evans admits she is eager to return to the TV dancefloor - she's just waiting for network bosses at ABC to ask.
She tells Us Weekly magazine, "It was challenging and terrifying, yet so much fun, I'd do it again. And I'm certain they'd take me back!"
The 43 year old's public plea comes just days after the latest line-up for Dancing With the Stars was announced. Star Wars hero Billy Dee Williams, Australian pop star Cody Simpson, Full House actress Candace Cameron Bure and former Wonder Years beauty Danica McKellar will be among the cast of the 18th season of the show, which kicks off on 17 March (14).
Justin Bieber has made a $1.2 million (£750,000) profit on his Calabasas, California home after selling the mansion to reality TV star Khloe Kardashian. The Baby hitmaker moved out of the luxury pad in January (14) and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia after police raided his home as part of a vandalism investigation following an 'egging' attack on a neighbour's estate.
It was the latest in a number of run-ins with locals in the gated community, where he had previously been accused of holding loud parties and speeding down residential roads in his sports cars.
However, Bieber has now managed to offload the property to Kardashian at the inflated price of $7.2 million (£4.5 million) after previously buying the home for around $6 million (£3.75 million) in 2012, according to TMZ.com.
Kardashian's new purchase follows another celebrity house swap - she sold her marital home in Tarzana, California to newlywed actress Kaley Cuoco earlier this year (14) after filing for divorce from her estranged husband Lamar Odom.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star will already be familiar with one of her new neighbours in The Oaks - her sister Kourtney recently bought retired sports star Keyshawn Johnson's home nearby.
Former Friends actor James Michael Tyler has finally filed for divorce from his estranged wife, more than 10 years after their initial separation. Tyler, who played coffee shop barista Gunther on the beloved sitcom, has filed papers to officially end his marriage to Barbara Chadsey, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split, according to TMZ.com.
Tyler and Chadsey wed in 1995 just as Friends was becoming a worldwide sensation. The pair separated in 2003, a year before the series ended its 10 season run.
Singer Kelis insists she is "over" her 2009 divorce from rapper Nas, despite the fact he sparked speculation in recent years about his feelings for his ex-wife after featuring her wedding dress on the cover of his 2012 album. The Milkshake hitmaker wed Nas in 2005, only to split four years later following rumours of his infidelity.
And much to her surprise, the rapper brought their relationship to the forefront again when he posed with the green wedding dress she wore down the aisle for his 2009 record Life Is Good, suggesting he is still harbouring feelings for his ex.
As for Kelis, she insists she has already moved on, telling The Guardian, "I've been divorced for almost five years; it's over, I'm over it."
She adds, "But what I would say is that last year I was made more aware of it because my ex-husband decided to talk about stuff that I hadn't shared with the world. He slipped my wedding dress on to his album cover, so now I have to talk about it! I had no idea it was happening, I was like, 'What the...?' But it didn't affect my life. I'm not living that life now. I'm super-content and at peace."
Newly-engaged actor Ashton Kutcher is happy to be leaving his single days behind him after confessing having multiple one night stands is "just a little gross". The Two and a Half Men star, who reportedly proposed to girlfriend Mila Kunis last week (ends28Feb14), admits he had his fair share of bachelor fun during his youth, and at 36, he is glad he is no longer sleeping around.
He tells Men's Fitness magazine, "Being a single guy can be a lot of fun... when you're financially independent (and) can do whatever you want, whenever you want.
"(But) for every girl you have a good time with for one night, if you want to stay single, that's the same girl that you have to not call back. After a while, being the one-night-stand guy is also just a little gross."
Kutcher was previously married to actress Demi Moore, but the couple split in 2011 and its divorce was finalised in November (13).
Rapper Kanye West will tie the knot with fiancee Kim Kardashian in Paris, France on 24 May (14), according to a report. The Stronger hitmaker proposed to the reality TV beauty in extravagant fashion on her 33rd birthday in October (13), and they previously revealed plans to exchange vows in the City of Love, branding it their "second home".
They even toured the Palace of Versailles, sparking rumours the royal chateau would serve as their wedding venue, although those claims were subsequently denied by officials at the historic French landmark.
Now editors at Us Weekly magazine claim the couple will wed in Paris in May (14).
Further details have yet to be revealed, but Kardashian recently admitted she will be shunning a big ceremony in favour of a "super, super small, intimate" celebration.
Kardashian has been married twice before - she eloped with music producer Damon Thomas in 2000, when she was just 19, and famously ended her second union, to basketball player Kris Humphries, in October, 2011 after just 72 days of marriage. Their divorce was finalised weeks before she welcomed baby girl North with West last summer (13).
Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles has won a reduction in his child support payments by more than $9,000 (£5,402). The former music manager was ordered to pay his former mistress Alexsandra Wright $12,000 (£7,202)-a-month after a paternity test proved he is father of her son, Nixon, who was born in February, 2010.
However, his superstar daughter dismissed him as her manager in 2011, greatly decreasing his income from a reported $3 million (£1.8 million) a year to $127,000 (£76,212) in 2013.
Because of his plummeting income and a reported $51,000 (£30,605) spent on monthly expenses, Knowles asked a California judge to lower his child support payments to Wright, and his request was approved, according to TMZ.com.
Now Knowles is only required to hand over $2,485 (£1,492) a month, which is $9,515 (£5,711) less than his previous payments.
Beyonce's mother Tina filed for divorce from her husband of 29 years in 2009 just weeks after Wright submitted her paternity lawsuit.
A police investigation has been launched after thousands of dollars worth of jewellery was stolen from Khloe Kardashian's home, according to a U.S. report. The reality TV star contacted cops on Monday (03Mar14) after discovering an estimated $250,000 (£156,000) worth of jewels had been taken from her house, reports TMZ.com.
Kardashian discovered the alleged theft at the property in Tarzana, California, which she used to share with her estranged husband Lamar Odom, while clearing out her possessions. She recently sold the house to newly-wed actress Kaley Cuoco.
Kardashian and Odom split last year (13) amid reports the basketball player was battling a drug problem. The TV star filed divorce papers in December (13).
