Based on the "Sneaky Pie" novels by Rita Mae Brown about Mrs. Murphy, a tiger stripped cat and her companion Tucker, a Welsh corgi. Mrs. Murphy and Tucker play detectives when a man is found dead in the lake. With their owner Mary Minor Haristeen, the Crozet, Virginia, postmistress also known as "Harry," the three forge ahead with an investigation. The furry detectives use their animal instincts to help solve the mystery and help Harry snare a bit of romance with handsome but secretive new next-door neighbor Blair Bainbridge. Meanwhile, the rural town of Crozet is turned upside down as its citizens plan the annual fox hunt and Mim Sanborn, the town's self-appointed social leader, plans her annual gala. Among Mim's guests are Fitz-Gilbert Hamilton, her aristocratic son-in-law and Miranda Hoggendobber, the town's good-hearted busy-body.
