Synopsis:

Detective Inspector Frost is on the job questioning drug-dealer "Richie" Dearne, while Superintendent Mullett is enjoying time off on the golf course. Mullett was up for promotion to Assistant Chief Constable, but was passed over in favor of Anne Cremond. Mullett takes pleasure in the thought that Cremond will now be the one to deal with the curmudgeonly Frost. When Frost and Detective Sergeant Toolan break the rules in their next interview with Dearn, the new Assistant Chief Constable is forced to apologize to Dearne's lawyer. Frost is re-assigned elsewhere. Meanwhile, Teddy Joyner, a con artist, "borrows" Mullett's car, which leads to the discovery of Dearne's dead body in the trunk of another "borrowed" vehicle. Frost then turns to Luke Hands, a sidekick of Dearne's.
