Synopsis:
A two-part special that celebrates the music and life of composer George Gershwin. The first part, "The Jazz Age," traces the composer's career from 1919 when he had his first hit, "Swanee," through the '20s when he composed his first big orchestral piece, "Rhapsody in Blue." The second part, "'S Wonderful," highlights the Hollywood scores, later Broadway musicals, and music influenced by European classical masters that he wrote in the '30s.
