Synopsis:
Documentary that goes inside a cold case unit and watches as police use psychological profiling and forensic anthropology to warm up cold cases. In Redwood City, California, a series of fires plagued the Emerald Hills area. The investigation was going nowhere, until a videotape by the arsonist was found showing a home ablaze as an unseen man whispers that he is taping his "home in hell" and the "ancient spirit of the devil." In Brevard County, Florida, James McCutcheon is reported missing in March 1994. His roommate, James Drysdale, is considered the main suspect, but he has an alibi. Eventually the alibi is found to be false, but the suspect has disappeared and the case goes cold until 1998, when Drysdale is located on a Tennessee mountain top and confesses to the murder.
