Synopsis:
In November 2000, an international field of the world's best adventure racers converged in New Zealand for one of the world's oldest and most prestigious adventure races, the Southern Traverse. The race featured 57 four-person teams in a weeklong, ultimate test of physical, mental and emotional endurance. In addition to providing complete race coverage, Discovery Channel wired, tested, monitored and analyzed the biological responses of a team of the world's best adventure racers non-stop throughout the race, in an attempt to learn more about the impact that adventure racing has on an athlete's body and mind.
