Synopsis:
A schizophrenic woman named Lulu McAfee tracks down her college boyfriend, Ben Clifton, in Los Angeles, where he is a television writer whose stagnant marriage to psychiatrist, Claire, has not recovered from the recent loss of their 5-year-old son, Andrew, to leukemia. Ben is shocked to find Lulu in Los Angeles, but agrees to meet her. Lulu stuns Ben by telling him that she was pregnant when they broke up and was forced to put their child up for adoption. The two of them embark on a cross-country journey to reunite with their estranged love-child, followed by an upset Claire. The three unexpectedly meet in a hotel in Madison, Wisconsin, setting off a series of events.
