Synopsis:

A broadcast of The Who's 1969 rock opera, "Tommy." The performance was taped August 24, 1989 at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, part of a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of the group and the 20th anniversary of "Tommy." Composer and lead guitarist Pete Townshend describes the rock opera and the guest stars describe their roles. Following the performance of "Tommy," The Who performs some of their other hits. The broadcast also includes behind-the-scenes and rehearsal footage.
