Synopsis:
Documentary which begins with the revelation of a small musical "jukebox" formerly owned and carried by Beatle John Lennon, which featured inside a list of 41 .45 recordings, spanning the gamut of many of America's legendary black blues, jazz, and soul pioneers. The buyer of the jukebox, John Midwinter, discovered the list, and in seeking out the .45s, found the inspiration, and sometimes the direct source, for some of the greatest rock and roll ideas to come from Britain's influential 60's and 70's rock heydey. Interviews, both new and archived, from mutually admiring artists on both sides of the pond offer an examination of the widespread influence these American artists had on British artists, who filtered the signature styles through their own cultural prism of blues and rock and roll to create a unique hybrid sound.
