Synopsis:
A drama about the career of Martin Luther King Jr. from his days as a Baptist minister in Atlanta in the early '50s until his assassination in 1968. Aside from Billy Goldenberg's Emmy Award-winning score, there were nominations for Paul Winfield and Cicely Tyson as Best Actor and Actress for their performances as Martin and Coretta King, Ossie Davis as Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Martin Luther King Sr., and Abby Mann for his directing and for his writing (two nominations), as well as for the editors of the film and for the production itself as Outstanding Series (1977 through 78). Dick Anthony Williams replaced Harry Belafonte in the role of Malcolm X.
