Synopsis:
Growing up in the small village of Valle del Sole, Vittorio is raised by his strong, independent mother, Cristina and doting disciplinarian aunt Teresa, the village schoolteacher. The family is shunned when Cristina becomes pregnant without her husband, Mario.They eventually move to Canada in hopes of a better life. But in the process of giving birth to Rita, Cristina dies. Both Rita and Vittorio are alienated by their father Mario and leave the home in their own separate ways. Vittorio embarks on a journey of self-discovery, eventually returning to his childhood home in Valle del Sole, where an old family secret is finally revealed.
