Synopsis:
A behind-the-scenes look at the 1970 launch and the impact of ABC's "Monday Night Football" and the colorful personalties that made it an institution. What had formerly been just a football game was elevated to the level of a national event, and virtually overnight, sports became entertainment and sportscasters were the new rock stars. The story includes the early discussions with the NFL, to Roone Arledge's quest for the perfect trio of announcers (ultimately teaming Howard Cosell, Don Meredith and Frank Gifford in a combination that proved to be as controversial as it was magical), through "Monday Night Football's" rocky start and eventual success that approached cult status.
