Synopsis:
The Dickens classic is accorded a new recounting with George C. Scott's off-beat, fatherly approach to Fagin giving a distinct dimension to the time-honored tale. British newcomer, 10-year-old Richard Charles, who had been on the London stage, made his TV acting debut in the title role. James Goldman, who had won an Oscar for his screenplay to "The Lion in Winter" and a Tony for his book to the Broadway musical, "Follies," wrote the teleplay to this version of Dickens. Del Acevedo's Fagin makeup won him an Emmy Award.
