Synopsis:
A profile of the life and controversial career of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who headed the Manhattan Project, the top secret organization in New Mexico given the task of creating the most devastating weapon in history. As a result of his work, he became known as "the father of the atomic bomb." Yet by 1953 his career was destroyed when he was charged with having once acted as a Soviet spy. Oppenheimer was a brilliant scientist, but remained a private enigma. After working tirelessly for the invention of the bomb, he ended up filled with regrets and misgivings about its use by the U.S. and other nuclear powers.
