Synopsis:
A tape of a production of Inge's play at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles, airing as part ot the "Broadway On Showtime" series. The play deals with two sisters, Madge and Millie, as they prepare for the annual Labor Day picnic. The sisters' lives are suddenly intruded upon by a drifer named Hal, who turns out to be a college fraternity brother of Madge's boyfriend. Madge and Millie are both greatly affected by the virile and charismatic Hal, and, as a result, tensions escalate at the Labor Day picnic.
