Synopsis:
Television movie based on Agatha Christie's novel "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" featuring the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. Poirot has recently retired to the village of Kings Abbott, indulging in his new pursuit of growing marrows, but life is not quiet for long. His neighbor, the wealthy industrialist Roger Ackroyd, is found murdered. Everyone in Ackroyd's household becomes a suspect, from his grasping sister-in-law and her daughter Flora, to the chauffeur Parker, the parlor maid Ursula, and personal secretary Raymond, none of whom can explain the sudden disappearance of Ralph, the adopted son of Ackroyd. Poirot reunites with Chief Inspector Japp and exposes a tangled web of blackmail, envy and murder with the help of local physician Dr. Sheppard and his inquisitive sister Caroline.
