Synopsis:
Telefilm depicting stories from the book "Rescuers: Portraits of Moral Courage in the Holocaust," involving the courageous efforts of non-Jews who risked their lives to rescue victims of the Holocaust. In "Malka Csizmadia," young Malka befriends and falls in love with Szarany, a man from the Jewish ghetto. When he devises a plan to build a tunnel to escape the ghetto, not only does Malka help, but she enlists the aid of her mother and sisters. Malka and her family are instrumental in leading Szarany and several others to safety. In "We Are Circus," a married couple run a traveling circus during WWII in Nazi Germany and at great risk to themselves and the circus, hide Jewish people as big top performers.
