Drama series about the Santiagos, an East Los Angeles Latino family. The Santiagos are a proud family with a long legacy of professional boxers. Roberto is the patriarch who works in an auto repair shop run by Hector, while he trains his middle son, Carlos, a boxing contender. Roberto is aided by his oldest son, Miguel, a former boxer, while local promoter Paulie organizes the fights. Alex, the younger son, is a pre-med student at UCLA; sister Yolanda works in a law firm in Beverly Hills where she meets the newest associate, Peter Terrano; and Victoria, the youngest, is a high school student who hangs out with the wrong crowd. Roberto's brother, Ruben, is a brain-addled ex-boxer who doesn't speak. Roberto's sister-in-law, the enthusiastic Bibi, has kept the Santiago household in order since the death of Roberto's wife, Theresa. Carmen de la Cruz vies for the attention of Carlos, who tries not to be distracted.As the second season begins, Miguel has become a boxing promoter and fight organizer. Carlos is a title contender on his way to a boxing championship, having fully recovered from his gunshot wounds. Alex, a former pre-med student at UCLA, was on his way to a championship but was robbed of the title by a crooked promoter. Yolanda has entered the Graduate Law program at the University of Southern California. Victoria is still in high school and hanging out with the wrong crowd; she gets a job at an upscale boutique. The sexy and outspoken Bibi has lost her salon business and is venturing into a volatile relationship with Lawrence Hill, a business entrepreneur. Luke Bonner, a law student with a disturbing family history, tries to find a balance between the ideals of law school and his deepening relationship with classmate Yolanda.
