Synopsis:
Opportunistic and manipulative Autumn McAvan Norton Osborne is the oft-married heroine of this soapy four-hour, two-part saga about a young woman who has clawed her way out of an Appalachian mining town to exact revenge on the powerful businessman who destroyed her family, in this adaptation of the Jonell Lawson novel. Bruce Dern is the ruthless coal baron, Lisa Hartman as the always put-upon Autumn marries and murders, Joe Penny is one of her lovers, Jim Youngs is her first husband, Morgan Stevens is Dern's son, Howard Duff is the Osborne family lawyer, and Betty Buckley is the town madam in this audience-appreciated potboiler, much of which was filmed on location in and around Birmingham, Alabama.
