Synopsis:
After serving seven years for manslaughter, a man returns home to run for mayor following the disclosure that the local newspaper editor, whose eyewitness testimony had put him behind bars, now has second thoughts and the town drunk now has confessed to the crime. Filmed in 1969 as "The Profane Comedy" (its once and future title), it gathered dust in a Universal vault for nearly four years.
