Synopsis:
The dreams of a young ex-convict with a beautiful singing voice seem out of reach until a saintly old woman takes him under her wing. Memaw helps Tommy get a steady job and better his life. Lilly, Memaw's granddaughter, is no less amazed by this street boy. As she grows to appreciate his genuine humility and warmth, they form a special bond. Tommy's childhood buddy, G. Smooth, now deeply entrenched in the drug scene, tries to recruit Tommy, but finds him to be a true and dedicated friend when Smoothie is fighting for his life.
