Synopsis:
Remake of the 1972 theatrical film about a Louisiana sharecropper family in the 1930s. When they hit hard times, the father steals food and is sentenced to 5 years hard labor. His son, inspired by stories of the bible and his dog Sounder's resiliance, goes on a quest to find his father, learning the way's of the world and a love of learning . Years later he returns home, now a young man, to help his family and writes a book about his adventures called "Sounder."
