Synopsis:
Judge Armando Acosta is an arrogant but brilliant Superior Court judge and longtime enemy of Paul Madriani, an idealistic attorney recently jailed for contempt in Acosta's court. But when Acosta is arrested on a trumped-up charge of soliciting a prostitute and the key witness is later found murdered, the judge finds himself turning to Madriani to help him wage the fight against murder charges. Acosta hires former county prosecutor Catherine Rosetti to defend him, hoping she'll convince Madriani -- her ex-boyfriend -- to join the defense team. Helping to persuade Madriani is Acosta's wife, who insists that her husband is innocent. Madriani reluctantly agrees to assist Catherine but the case grows more complicated with the revelation that her brother, a shady cop, was having an affair with the murder victim. The district attorney prosecuting the case convinces the judge to have Catherine dismissed as legal counsel, paving the way for Madriani to become lead attorney.
