Synopsis:
Live broadcast from the Minskoff Theatre in New York City of the 42nd annual presentation of the Antoinette Perry (or "Tony") Awards honoring excellence in the Broadway theater. Scenes from works nominated in the Best Play category are enacted, including "A Walk in the Woods," "Joe Turner's Come and Gone," "M. Butterfly" and "Speed the Plow," as well as musical numbers from "Into the Woods," "Phantom of the Opera," "Romance/Romance" and "Sarafina." Also included is a musical and dance tribute to Michael Bennett.
